I think we need to make transportation planning the number 1 election issue for the next Mayoral debates. With any luck, I hope the new mayor walks into the traffic control and planning department and fires the whole lot of them. Why? Because they have managed to screw up every mode of transportation available to Haligonians.
Do you want to bicycle? Not a good idea, designated trails and lanes are fragmented and non-existant. Do you want to take city transit? Sorry, no can do. They are on strike. Want to drive a car? Again, not a good idea. Try driving in a loop around the Halifax harbour. There is not a fast road anywhere. Someone at city planning has got the word ‘fast’ and ‘parking lot’ mixed up in their spell checker.
In their wisdom, the idiots at city planning decided that there should be NO FAST WAY out of the city for anyone. Don’t believe me? Try driving down from Dalhousie University to anywhere in the HRM. It sucks! —Let

They try to make it faster but then The Coast and a bunch of World Savers get their panties bunched up. Look at Chebucto/Bayers Road. We don’t really have ‘rush’ hour delays like real cities such as Montreal or Toronto, so don’t worry about.
Good bitch.
Are you referring to the widening of Chebucto Cranky?
Yes. “Oh hi I bought a house within 100ft of a major clusterfuck of traffic what do you mean you are going to widen the road exiting it so more traffic can go by faster?”
Idiots, every one.
And look at that vacant lot on Argyle St. What a fucking eyesore in the heart of downtown. Any other city with balls would have fined the fucker that owns it until they cleaned it up and made it not look like Bosnia. And no, shitty fucking ‘art installations’ don’t count. Tourists will be here soon, I don’t think they’re coming here to see Halifax, a city by the sea, not fucking Beirut.
with the titanic 100th coming up, a good transit system would be helpful. whether you like the idea or not, tourista dollars are good
you guys see this site yet? it is cool, hope it’s for realz.

Sounds cool Suckster, and I for one would be all for such an endeavour but, I gotta say, just based on what I saw of the site, I think it’s all a hoax. Either someone trying to gauge public interest in a privatized transit service or, more likely, just someone stirring up shit.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
i see the fuckig cry babies were too long in getting that site shut down. how’s that for fucking gestapo moves people.there were over 100 comments on their blog part and a lot of them supported the people. but then the unions assholes got on there and started calling them scabs and whatever. what a fucking bunch of losers the transhit union is. i hope to fuck, they get made an offer, they dare not refuse, like get the fuck back to work, at half pay, or lose your job seniority and even job. ARE YOU READING THIS PETEY KELLY?
If you want to get out of the city fast OP, try starting at Joseph Howe drive. You hit the exit to the Bicentennial and you’re gone. Starting at Dalhousie will take you a lot longer.
Seriously though I feel for you OP, getting anywhere in south or west-end Halifax if you’re in a hurry is frustrating. City planners have their work cut out for them, they need to move traffic and, at the same time, retain some small city charm. Encouraging a reduction in the number of cars would be the easiest way forward and encouraging alternate forms of transportation. Create far more lanes for bikes and scooters, encourage bus usage (under normal circumstances) and car-pooling.
