Boy, what a vicious dog she is! Just look at her sitting with all those people celebrating her birthday! They look terrified of her don’t they?
Pretty disgraceful how the uneducated and inhumane parasites of society get jobs working with children and animals because they are the ones who are unable to defend themselves against the cruelties inflicted on them.

  1. OK go easy on the OP, it’s Rodney MacDonalds first stab at joined up words since he was turfed out of Government….Next stop he’s going to take a stab at potty training.
This post is the result of putting one of those plastic dry cleaning sleeves over your head and running around inhaling the fumes.

  2. NO, it’s about a dog that has been in the pound for ELEVEN MONTHS because some animal control officer, ex-cop, ex-military police, decided he would have her killed and said she was dangerous.
Eleven months. One year equals seven human years.
The picture is on facebook… it’s showing a bunch of shelter volunteers, all women, sitting for a big portrait with Brindi in the middle, eating birthday cake. One of the women has an infant on her lap, just a few feet from this “vicious” dog.
When is this hypocrisy going to end – when is HRM going to stop acting like a dictatorship?

  3. She was attacking other dogs, not people. So being around people is probably not an issue.

  4. until another dog happens by… brings all kinds of itchy scratchy type cartoons to mind

I recommend all dog owners buy their new puppies a pretty feline friend to grow up with. Small things that run and wag aren’t quite as interesting when you have one in your family and you love it and lick it and smell it and nuzzle it and… (dogs are awesome)

  5. Oh my god. There are young men and women getting shot in Iran. There are 24,000 people currently on strike in Toronto. There are chunks of poop and tampons in the harbour. There are many crazy, terrible things happening in the world, and I am sick and tired about hearing about this dog. Please. No more Brindi. I’m sorry. I just really don’t care anymore. AND I LOVE DOGS.

  6. I third what Lang said.

HRM is a dictatorship because it put a dog in the pound? Methinks someone’s been sniffing too much patchouli.

  7. You have to wonder how much court time and legal $$ this ballocks has cost.
I can sympathise with the poster, especially where she cites the original arresting officer was ex-military police. When
I was in the service the saying went “those who can,do, those who can’t join the military police”.

  8. I had never heard of this dog until now, but Isecond what Kay said. I ‘ve always had both a cat and dog, and they learn from each other and miss each other when the other is gone and are great friends.

  9. It just wasn’t a one time thing, it was continuous. But I agree save the dog, do in the owner.

  10. I would suggest you give your head a shake and then get the real facts of the case. This dog is not a danger to anyone, human or animal.
How is it that more is expected of an animal than is expected from the human species? People snap at each other all the time whether it is abusive language, gestures, postings, punches, shootings, etc. Yet, we still expect more from the animals who do not have a voice or any other way to communicate.
There is no excuse for abuse. This case stinks of foul play.

  11. To all you people in Halifax. You say you don’t care ANYMORE? When did you ever care about Brindi and/or her owner? It is almost 1 year since that INNOCENT dog has been incarcerated. Not once have I seen any support from any of you! Hell, you don’t even have the guts to demonstrate against the city, who is using ALL your TAX $$. Take off your blindfolds and use your brain for once! And, REMEMBER IT COULD BE YOUR PET NEXT !! SHAME ON YOU HALIFAX !!!

  12. I agree with rosie – if you don’t care, then don’t bother commenting. If you have a dog, you should care a lot, because HRM enforces its by-laws in the most random fashion. One slip too many and you may find yourself in the same situation some day. You obviously don’t know the facts of the case if you want to “do the owner in”. Dogs are important to people – many US soldiers from Iraq went to great lengths to ship dogs home from, more than they cared about people. Why? Because unlike the folks here, with their nastiness, dogs LOVE people more and better than other people do – a lot better than these callous people. Lang, you just don’t really love dogs if you don’t care about Brindi. End of story.

  13. Oh, wait, let me get my protest sign making kit out and my picketing shoes on and I’ll meet you in front of City Hall so we can demonstrate about this boring issue. Like Lang said, take a look at what other people have to demonstrate about around the world and tell me with a straight face that we should be taking to the streets over Brindi. If you two (Rosie and Observer) can’t see why people don’t give a shit about this situation, maybe you’re the ones with the blindfolds on.

  14. I’m not sure the DEAD dogs Brindi KILLED would agree with Live&LetLive, “This dog is not a danger to anyone, human or animal.”

  15. Some rough numbers for Bro Tim regarding the “continuous” acts of this dog: I generalize these numbers to make my point but if Brindi went outside once a day, that means that she went outside 424 times without an incident while in her owner’s care. Taking Brindi out twice a day would mean that there were 851 potty breaks without an incident. Where’s the continuous? Send Brindi home to her owner and get on with things that really need the attention — tampons in the harbor sure sounds like it needs a fix.

  16. If some of these “human” comments were expressed by dogs, they would be dragged into a truck by a non-trained, HRM animal control officer and euthanized for “being dangerous”.
For those that think this issue is onlyabout a dog, better take a second look. This is all about a very, very bad bylaw being enforced by un-trained personnel who have been given unprecedented powers.

And to “Kay”…get your facts straight or keep your stupoidity to yourself.

  17. Beni: 851 potty breaks without incident does not justify 1 potty break with incident any more than a local drug dealer going 851 days without shooting someone and then having a slip-up does. If the animal attacked another animal then it needs to be dealt with. Things have obviously gone overboard in this case, but show me the numbers on how often this by-law is poorly executed vs. rightly executed. If you really want people to rally to Blimpie’s cause, then try toning down the “dictatorship” crap and make a reasonable case. Otherwise people won’t take you seriously.

  18. To Kay: Brindi did not KILL any dogs. There are no DEAD dogs that she KILLED. Your statement is OVERKILL.

  19. Bottom line, the judge quashed the seizure and euthanasia order in January, 2009. Brindi should be free. The owner has shown she will go the extra mile — installing fencing, enlisting a trainer. Free Brindi!

  20. There are no second chances in the doggie justice world as administered by humans. Even the biggest dog lovers and breeders will agree on that.
    Strike one – your dead!

  21. Well hell……..they don’t hafta even go after after humans…………..they’re “FAIR GAME”

  22. Dogs are pack animals. A functioning pack makes for a functioning dog. IF Brindi has a biting problem, instead of pointing fingers, ask why. Is the household dysfuntional? Are the occupants stressed? Are the ‘pack leaders’ disinterested? This is a people problem more than a dog problem. The humans are the problem, not the animals. Trust me, I know.

  23. Those are wise words, and from a brand new comer. This black rose wouldn’t be residing close to……say……….a hospital?……..Would it?……….Never mind, wise words indeed, a voice of which understands these matters…………..how refreshing!

  24. Rosie?……….You there?……..Actually, just as with people, some dogs (animals) ARE problematic. Not to dilute what you said though, or deflect. …………….Just saying.

  25. it all starts with doing the right thing. Everyone posting here wants to be seen, whether they care or not. Wish the ones who claim not to care would invest their energy into protesting the sick system that governs Halifax and the abuse of power the moron Tim Hamm Animal Control Officer represents. Anyone, any animal lover, should protest this sick waste of tax-funds – whether it is Brindi or YOUR dog affected.
Your dog may be next. Brindi cannot speak for herself, she has become a pawn for egos. To just turn your back on this is lame and cowardly, as it affects all of us – you in Halifax the most. Yes, public pressure is a powerful tool, we succeeded many times doing it out here in Colorado, maybe the people in Halifax are all cowards or wimps, who just blog but never take action. Put all prejudice aside and imagine they do this to YOUR dog. Can you do that ?
Then take a sign and walk the streets. Quit bowing down with the same ignorance that is so prevalent in your stupid city. It’s not the animals that are PROBLEMATIC. It’s the system.

  26. Oh, yes, black rose, the humans are the problem – the ones in city hall and the animal services department, the ones sitting in the white trucks, who exaggerate the records in order to take dogs away from single women who need them, while using all kinds of reasons not to fine owners who wield knives or have police records, let alone seize their dogs that viciously attack and bite HUMANS (badly and more than once, in several cases). Animal control often won’t even get out of the truck to check out dogs belonging to doctors and rich people; I know from experience, TRUST ME!
If anybody thinks this is a case of normal animal law enforcement, guess again!!!
If you find it boring – too bad, go rant about something else.

  27. OK, miles, the numbers are on their way – and in the meantime, just try talking to a few dog owners, or anybody, about animal control!!! There are plenty of cases out there to show how inconsistent and unfair it is. Oh sure, the mayor’s dogs get loose a few times, or a councilor’s, no big deal; different matter for somebody in Eastern Passage. A german shepherd in Prospect kills a few chickens in somebody’s brand new coop? No big deal; just fine the owner. But Brindi? A few scrapes – on her own territory – never attacked a human? SHE MUST DIE!!! Read the paper – the guy with the knife that stabbed a st. bernard, after his own (unleashed, off-property) dog attacked it – did they take his dog? Did they even publish the guy’s name?? Why not?
Don’t you think a year in the pound is enough?
Having money or being dangerous in some way – works wonders; be an unpopular American, forget about it! Don’t you wonder why you didn’t hear that about ten animal rights groups and rescues, including PETA headquarters, all of whom checked out the facts thoroughly, have issued public statements about Brindi, supporting her owner?

  28. OK Miles:
this is for you. Reports on prosecutions of by-law violations for dogs, June 2007 to September 2008.
    http://docs.google.com/View?id=dhdjxr5g_0d…

    or
    http://tinyurl.com/lr7pxh

This of course does not give information about the others that were not charged. Or the owners who were intimidated into giving up their dogs to be killed.
But check out a few of these, like Coleman, Murphy, Bridan, Thompson-Williams, Bonar… and compare to Brindi. Read first. Then talk.

  29. Animal control can be inconsistent and unfair BUT had Brindi been properly socialized this would not have happened.
