To the person who took the dog on the bus the other day: Does the driver know you? I thought there were rules that animals needed to be secured in an appropriate carrier. There was no evidence that you needed a seeing eye dog. As somebody who is pathologically afraid of dogs and finds them noisy, smelly and demand too much attention, why did you get such an exception to the rules?

  1. If you are truthfully “pathologically afraid of dogs” I feel for you.. but you gotta be careful with assumptions

  2. OP, I completely and totally sympathise with you. The dog people make me want to vomit most of the time, but the sad fact of the matter is you have absolutely no choice but to deal with them whatsoever. If you need to take the bus, or be in enclosed spaces with the dog people and their dogs but you find you can’t handle it you’ll have to start seeing a therapist.

The reason that dog person got an exception to the rule (and why they always get an exception to the rule) is because there simply are no rules anymore concerning dogs. It has become a politically correct fear based free-for-all that can’t really be challenged, and dogs are here to stay.

It’s nothing for people to take their pets, sometimes very large ones into shops and stores of all descriptions and not think twice about it. The business they’re entering can’t do anything about it because they’re afraid the dog would die in the car if they didn’t let them come in, and they’d be blamed for it. Bus drivers can’t do anything because there’s a perception they’re not permitted by law to ask for papers from people proving it’s a service dog, or that there’d be some sort of scene if they so much as glanced at the dog the wrong way (they don’t have time for that shit).

It’s even getting to the point where the owners of dogs who bite other people or other animals are finding it easier to walk away from their own responsibilities concerning those attacks…they just simply shrug their shoulders and leave the vicinity and that’s the end of it sometimes!

The dog people are big business. They’re big business in the traditional sense and they’re big business for government. They are the core taxpayers and government is going to do nothing but cater to them. Every park in the province has essentially been turned over to the dog people right? And I mean they really are….gone are the days when you should walk barefoot through a city park. Forget needles and condoms – your problem now is dog shit and piss. That casual disregard by our municipal officials should be proof positive that government doesn’t recognise the concerns people have about dogs as being valid. The dog people certainly don’t.

So, good luck to you – but this is the way it is and you’ll have to suck it up.

PS- I know you probably can’t or wouldn’t, but when I moved away from the city the problem with dogs decreased by at least 90%…just sayin’.

  3. You’d be in therapy if you lived in calgary . LOL . Dogs ride for free and just on leashes on our transit . You have problems granted but 900000 of us don’t . Deal with your problem not the rest of have to deal with it .

  4. Either I was on this bus, or it happened again around the same time.

I was confused, since I’d LOVE to be able to take my dog places with me and it didn’t *look* like a service dog.

But seeing as I am a dog person, it mostly brightened up my day.

  5. There is no such thing as fear of all dogs, only scary dogs, and even then, they can be your friend.

I was attacked by multiple loose dogs over my childhood, if I can make friends with them, anyone can.

  6. So…..Your problem is now everyone elses now? Get over yourself , truth is …. Noone cares about it . Only you . Maybe wear a sign everyone can see describing your problem , then we can see that problem and advise you quickly we don’t care
