We who deal with chronic dependency problems are educated about our disorders. We have spent more time and energy figuring out possible solutions to what most professionals see as intractable aspects of the condition than anyone else has the time &/or inclination for. We have to have faith in ourselves.

You, general practitioner, are in kindergarten when it comes to this. How can I work with you when you show that you have lowest view of what my ideas might be? It’s clear that you don’t trust me, though I’ve given you no reason not to. The result is a total lack of basic treatment for regular everyday things. I am becoming so averse to visits that I begin to despair of recovery. Doctors, you kill me. —slowly fading from view

  1. So what is it OP? Meth? Heroin? Congrats on taking the steps to recovery, but going to a general practitioner is not the correct avenue. You should contact Nova Scotia’s Addiction Services Dept for help.

  2. and this is why i am pro suicide booth. you are obviouly a junkie, or drinker, and while some might want help, it is the others that should be left to croak in some filthy corner of the world. you say you now more than doctors, did you do the residency thing and go to college to study, bet not. but then again, you have your right to make your thoughts known to someone, who has a greater degree of knowledge than you. have at it o.p.

  3. Stop-and-Drop suicide booths resemble phone booths and cost one quarter per use. The booths have at least three modes of death: “quick and painless,” “slow and horrible”, and “clumsy bludgeoning” though, it is also implied that “electrocution, with a side order of poison” exists, and that the eyes can be scooped out for an extra charge. After a mode of death is selected and executed, the machine cheerfully says, “You are now dead. Thank you for using Stop-and-Drop, America’s favorite suicide booth since 2008”

Hmm…..I wonder if HRM Council would consider installing some? Or the Bridge Commission to give jumpers another option.

  4. only a quarter?!?!?
I can afford to die over and over!
I’ll throw in a loonie and let it give me the full treatment.

perhaps we could have furnace fire and water filling options?
or is this just a prototype we’re building for proof of concept?

  5. So this bitch is about a drug dependant person laying blame on someone else for their inability to free themselves from their addiction. First: you got yourself into this mess and only you can get yourself out of it. Second: going to a general practitioner for a magic cure is not the answer. Success does not come cheap, you are going to have to put more effort into this than you have ever put into anything in your life. This is now going to be a life long struggle that is going require all of your attention for the time being, but starting off by blaming your doctor is not the kind of commitment that is going to be helpful to you. May I suggest you consult an addictions expert, doctors are not trained to deal with this sort of thing, an addictions councillor is more what you may want to look up. I wish you the best of luck, and hope to read a success story update in the near future.

  6. While I applaud your efforts to get help, OP, I can’t help but think about all the people who have to wait to see their doctors and all the tax payers who have to shell out funds because YOU decided to shoot up, or drink or whatever the fuck it is you’re addicted to in the first place.

There’s a reason why your doctor doesn’t trust you — you might be perfectly trustworthy, but your fellow addicts don’t exactly exemplify this ethic. It’s all part of the recovery, my friend. What do you expect, really? To get your dick sucked and ass wiped because you decided to get clean? Your choice to do whatever it is you got addicted to in the first place, so your responsibility to deal with the consequences.

Or maybe your doc has seen way too many addicts relapse and is jaded?

  7. stupid doctors- not trusting junkies!

you want trust? get clean. right now we trust that you are consumed and controlled by addiction. your brain will rationalise whatever it needs to in order to get its fix. you will manipulate people and situations (including yourself) to fuel your addiction. if you are serious about removing yourself from dependancy you need specialised care. you also need to be willing and strong enough to go through the hell of withdrawal, not just substitute one poison for another. spend a year clean, dissasociate from junkies and dealers, and you will have trust. you will have earned trust. i wish you strength in your endeavors.

  8. Yeah, I’ve known a few drug addicts for short periods of time. Worked with them, lived with them, before they got kicked out or fired, that is… and I never trusted any of them. Mostly because they always lied and stole my shit…

But anyway you’re expecting too much from your GP. The demonic Prime Minister is right. I know some people who work in addictions counseling offices. They exist so go find one.

Oh, and you’re an asshole for inferring that your GP is somehow at fault here. Typical addict blame game.

  9. EXACTLY, Snoop. To an addict everyone else is to blame for their problems. Your choice to start doing whatever it is you’re addicted to so suck it up and stop using services (i.e. medical services) actual sick and injured people need.

  10. Oh, snoop, this reminds me. I had a friend once who lived with an addict. she fucked off one day stiffing my friend for rent. My friend had borrowed her macbook for the weekend while she was away and refused to give it back to her until she paid the rent she owed. This bitch’s MOM called her and said she’d give her the rent once she got the laptop back. My friend said “no dice” and got herself a nifty macbook for $700 bucks…and some nice mac make up brushes.

And the roomate’s mom kept harrassing my friend for the macbook back and kept going on about how she was stealing and she just laughed at her. When she said she would take my friend to court, she stated that the roomate was on the lease and she had proof she paid the entire sum of rent and that she could counter sue for a lot more than what the macbook was actually worth the mom stfu in a hurry.

  11. also: (yeah I know triple post) did anyone notice this “chronic dependency” bullshit the OP refers to? jesus h christ. that reeks of someone not taking responsibility for their OWN FUCKING ACTIONS.

    FUCK I can’t stand addicts.

  12. Uggg addicts are the most annoying people to deal with in the world. NOTHING is ever their fault, ever ever ever. It’s always everyone else out to get them in this horrible, curel, unfair world!! I knew this guy, who my best friend is still friends with for whatever reason (he owes him like $1500 and hasn’t paid back $20 of it). He blames everyone else for the fact that: he doesn’t have a place to live, he had to pay for his GF to get an abortion (which I say is a lie because I’m pretty sure they’re free), his parents are big fat meany heads because they refuse to pay for his habit anymore, it’s the world’s fault he has stolen money, drugs, electronics from people causing his “friends” to be chased by said drug dealers and police …. all the while not having a job. Sorry, I guess every 9 months or so he gets a job at KFC for a week, my bad.

And I’m with PK with this “chronic dependency” BS! That’s right up there with people calling it a disease or people calling themselves “Waste removal engineers” aka garbage men. Deal with your own problems OP and stop wasting the GP’s time! It’s no wonder it takes me 3-6 weeks to get into see mine when I need to.

  13. EXACTLY melectric! One of my biggest pet peeves is how people go to doctors when they fucking shouldn’t. And not just people like OP, it’s people who go when they have a cough or a little ache or pain and go on like they’re the most important creatures on the planet.

I work in the health care industry these days and I know JUST the type. Self entitled whiners.

  14. As a GP my advice is take 2 fuck offs or a blow my goat maximum strength either orally or anally and don’t call me in the morning.

  15. My doctor is absolutely fantastic so I completely disagree. And when it comes to addicts I have views from every angle….I lost a lot of people I love to their addiction… A person who meant the world to me who convinced me they were getting help… they were clean…they were fighting the battle one day at a time….the battle was lost and I was heartbroken and blamed myself for being so blind and being an enabler. Doctors know better than to be blind … they know better than to give you an inch OP. I’m sorry for your battle….but stop making excuses as to why it’s someone else fault….stop lying to yourself.
