How does spending 1.5billion on flu shots MAKE money for the government?
Its the healthy people that are dying from the h1n1. That’s why I’ll get the shot. Besides, who likes getting the flu? Not me! Might as well take the shot.
I have never, not since I was 10 years old, had a flu shot. I probably won’t get an H1N1 shot either. Not because I don’t think I need it, but because I don’t do things just because the government says I should…it is true, they are not always in it for your best interests. I don’t live with that fear. I just don’t. And if I am not mistaken, all of those who have died from H1N1 have not been entirely healthy. Some had underlying health issues, that had they not been present, they wouldn’t have died from H1N1. I don’t like to take any concoction of medicines, chemicals, or whatever, until they have had time to test them. To really know if they even work. There have been more people with the H1N1 that have survived than those that have been killed by it…so,we’re still in the lead!
Flu shots are personal choices. That being said, perhaps the family of the healthy 12 year old who died in Ontario are wishing he’d had the flu shot. As my doctor explained it…’the flu normally takes out the elderly and infants/toddlers, the H1N1 is more deadly because it causes fatalities in healthy young people as well as those groups affected by seasonal flus.” The bottm line: if you want the flu shots, get them. If you don’t want them don’t get them. It doesn’t have to be more complicated than that.
Again, what’s the government’s ulterior motive for promoting the flu vaccine? What’s really in it for them? At worst, they are just trying to cover their ass in case H1N1 turned out to be more deadly than it has. Since we already ordered 50million doses, might as well put them to good use rather than let them expire on some warehouse shelf.

I’m sorry, but that is one of the stupidest things I have read in a long while. Let me get this straight, you feel that you “need” this vaccine – yet you refuse to get it to rebel against “the GOVERNMENT”. WTF!?! Am I missing something?? Since when did “The Government” say you had to get the vaccine? Last time I checked it was health authorities (AKA doctors, nurses and epidemiologists – you know people who are experts in this kind of thing) that are recommending the vaccine. The government is just paying the bill.
God forbid you get sick and die from H1N1, but if you do, you’ll sure have taught the government a lesson. Sheeeeesh, what a ridiculous argument.

A money grab by who? Your flu shot is ‘free’ and the government is paying for it. The only people profiting are the vaccine manufacturers who weren’t hurting from the recession in the first place. They get paid whether you get your shot or not. H1N1 hasn’t stimulated the economy. Some of the little money our economy has has been directed to H1N1-related things, but the economy isn’t recovering any faster. Can someone help me out here? Am I missing something?
