Four years ago we wanted change. We wanted something different. We got a government that made decisions not because they were popular, but because they were the right thing to do. Just when things appear to be getting better, we shun them.

Fuck off. Shit had to happens today to make things better tomorrow. So suck it up. —Ugggh. What?! C’mon

  1. Well, you forgot to mention how they were NOT a change from the others NOR the numerous BAD decisions they made which caused the disillusionment in the first place. Nova Scotian voters do not forget…

  2. Too many disillusioned comrades who thought the “Orange Revolution” would magically transform us into subsistence economy vegans riding bicycles with windmills on the back of them.
You want to know the difference between Dexter and people like Megan Leslie. He’s actually responsible for the power he wields, and not simply a shrill nagging voice kibbitzing from the sidelines with Utopian suggestions that haven’t a hope in hell of ever being put into effect and if he’s made mistakes, so be it. Power is for grownups, not “activists”.
He’ll be a better opposition critic for his experience, assuming the Party doesn’t pull a Night of the Long Knives and purge him for not being “progressive” enough.
Of course, we are the instant gratification society so I highly doubt any party at any level is going to have the luxury of back to back terms. This is our future; we’d best get used to it.

  3. “This is our future; we’d best get used to it.” – NO! The Captain refuses to settle for second rate governance!

  4. “Just when things appear to be getting better…”

You mean appear? Or are? Sounds to me your opinion “appears” to be based on intangibles.

  5. Methinks the only question DD will be asked by the party faithful, at the apres election shindig, will be “do you want a blindfold or not?” before being shown the door, even though he knows what the door looks like, also the windows and drapes, nothing gets past DD.

The NDP won the election on a Green Party platform?

I take issue with this, mainly because it discounts the role of the critic, which is to critique the status quo and to present alternatives. Even unrealistic, or idealistic, alternatives can inform policy making and help contribute to lasting change. I prefer an MP (Leslie or otherwise) that asks “why not?” rather than simply accepting the status quo or some minor modification of the status quo as “the best we can do”.

  8. I am a life long ndp who is disillusioned with the way this government acted like pc’s. hard decisions? hah! throw money at multinationals. dexter/harper. what’s the difference.

I don’t expect to ever in my lifetime get a government that will electrocute animal abusers, I do realize that some things are better left to private enterprise and community volunteers, but the current government’s ag minister’s behaviour over the issue of 24/7 tethering and neglect has been so red in the neck I hear banjoes.
these old creeps have got to go.

  9. People want lower taxes but don’t want pay to cover the cost. Perhaps people forget how hard it is to do that when they want lower taxes. People will always bitch about the government and many of them won’t vote. If you don’t vote you shouldn’t be allowed to complain

  10. McNeil will be toast in 4 years and Dexter has just settled a new contract with the NS Nurses Union.
