the labour board may or may not do something for you down the road, but effective…no.file a human rights complaint, they will prolong the process, it is expensive for the employer to fight and you are more than likely to get some kind of personal satisfaction.talk to a lawyer, your first half hour ( an hour in some firms) is free. if you cannot afford one, (no offence but chances are working at the KF you cannot, check out legal aid, or call dalhousie. they can guide you and get you started.i wish you the best, …in a new career.

Thanks allot for the support everyone. I’ve filed a complaint with the labour board for giving me no record of employment as well as not providing me with final pay (or the weeks pay which I worked that he withheld from me). I also went into the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission for this with support from the black community center in Halifax. I have witnesses for the racist remarks he made. For a man who is a minority himself (Lebonese) you would figure he’d have a little more understanding.Thanks.
