So I’m happy to celebrate your success in losing 10 pounds – hooray, that’s a great achievement! Now let’s change the subject. No? You want to talk more about how many ‘points’ are in each food you eat, how many calories you burned walking the dog, and the many many off-limits foods that you are craving. Fine. Let’s talk about that for, oh, 10 minutes. Then it gets boring. Really boring. You are no longer able to talk like a human being with multiple complex interests and opinions. No, you have become a dieter, who is only capable of talking about food and weight loss. Forgive me if I no longer want to spend more than an hour with you, who were formerly my closest friend. I just can’t take it. My little brother has autism (common symptom is limited range of interests), and even he can change the subject when requested. You? Not anymore. It’s diet talk and nothing else. BORING! —Missing Real Conversation

lol when my friends all started getting into their fitness regimes all I heard all the time was how much weight they were lifting, what supplements they were on, what workouts they were doing and what results they were seeing. I work out too but I don’t feel the need to tell everyone I know every detail of said workout.
It should pass in time, OP.
much the same as the shit they force down their throats. blech, how the fuck can a human eat such trash. give me a dead animal, and grease, any fucking day.
I see this with new parents more so than dieters…
and at least you do get to talk about food…
I don’t need another ‘and then he pooped’ story, thanks.
Or fucking Golf Stories…
I watched my sister thru 4 decades of dieting and not one of them worked, including the ever popular ‘point’ system – all commercial diets are a fucking waste of time. The only ones who benefit are the people who churn out this bullshit and franchise it. There’s only one way to lose weight and keep it off: Eat less, exercise more.
Maybe they’re trying to tell you something OP.
What TTFN said, exercise and moderate eating.
Dieting is so … irritating. I’ve never dieted … and don’t intend to any time soon. Moderation is key … as in anything else.
A co-worker of mine always says “Everything in moderation, including moderation”. 😉
OB the next time she mentions ‘points’ and food…tell her the only points you want to talk about are toast points smothered in butter. Then suggest you both going and making a batch with eggs benny to dip them in ~;)
It’s not only boring, it’s annoying. For someone who has stopped eating bad food and has been trying to lose weight, they sure talk A LOT about food! And photo after photo after photo of food. The problem is still there, now it’s reversed. You’re obsessed and no one cares!
No wonder these people have to completely regroup their friends.
Do you have a good metabolism op? Because if so it would be funny if you just casually say “oh yeah, i lost 15 pounds. not sure how! lol AGAIN..”
They’ll shut up.
