Over the last few months I’m noticing more and more parking mistakes. And it’s getting fucking annoying. My biggest issue is with parking a couple feet behind a stop sign. It’s happening all the time on my street lately, and it’s worse because cars park on both sides. So there’s room for one car to enter or leave, and if a car turns onto the street while you’re approaching the stop sign, you’re basically stuck facing the car with no room to go around.
This is illegal and needs to be ticketed. Also, parking against the flow of traffic. Also illegal and needs to be ticketed. A car out front of my place right now is parked this way.
Ironically, I always see the Parking Enforcement truck driving around but no tickets anywhere. This is getting ridiculous. I don’t give a fuck if it’s church and the only open spot on my street is right in front of a stop sign. YOU CAN’T PARK THERE.
I know cops can issue tickets but they have better things to do, and this is parking enforcement’s job. I gotta go watch Parking Wars to calm down. —If You Park Like That, I’d Hate to See You Drive

Parking Wars does not calm me down. If anything it enrages me more, watching a bunch of SETs refuse to take responsibility for the things they do wrong and go on about “the man” pfffft.
OB, there is a limited number of Parking Enforcement personnel, they can’t be everywhere all the time.
So here’s what you do,…call and complain(I know, it’s a novel idea). If they are anything like te By-law people, they’ll respond rather quickly.
We have a Parking Enforcement truck? Where does Rita park when she issues a ticket if there are no available spots? Can we ticket Rita? Dang, I will have to be on the lookout for this wayward troll as I have yet to encounter the b!tch!
if you’re not getting a ticket, why the fuck complain? there are people out there, that would love not to get any tickets. not even one. but no, you go and think that because someone makes a mistake or two on them, that there are no guys working. you are wrong bub, they are, seen one the other day, handing out tickets, like he had a quota to reach.
You must live in Ocean Breeze
The last time I checked, at least, in the down-town area of Halifax, parking enforcement was contracted out to a private security company, (rhymes with “secure-an-ass”)….unless of course you are parked somewhere on the waterfront, then it’s the Halifax Waterfront Commission (or used to be. It’s been awhile), that doles out the tix, for… God only knows what reason.
Maybe you should go to church bud then you’ll b a nicer person! Dum dum.
Enforcement has slipped significantly on my street near the Emera Oval.
Agree with all points made in the bitch post.
Best way to deal with the problem is 490-5020, it’s HRP’s non-emergency number. The dispatchers are great. You feel like a nuisance reporting illegally parked cars, but they’ll assure you you’re not, and ask that you call back if the problem persists.
The Oval draws all kinds of parking scofflaws to this neighbourhood, there is a real need for some additional enforcement to counter the problem.
