A guy who did squat when he was Minister of Tourism now has the top job … what did we expect?
I just watched the video for “Delusional Calgaria”. What a fucking farce, I would really like to know where all these fantastic paying jobs can be found here in the HRM or elsewhere in this province. The long hours well…the only way that I have had a good income is by working 65+ hrs a week in a kitchen at $8.50 an hour and that only happend over the summer tourism period(something that has been on a decrease since 2000). Look at wages, when I went on EI last year and asked about retraining so I could put myself in a better economic bracket I was told “that most of the jobs out there only pay in the $8-$9 range”. So why would people want to stay only to get minimal wage? So my suggestion to that fiddle playing hick, get some wage equity on the go and maybe people would stay. On a side note what about the ungodly tutition to universities in this province.
I agree with what you are saying Chris. Not only is our hourly wages acrossed the board unacceptable, so can be the treatment Employers here are getting away with.I love Nova Scotia and would love nothing better than to retire here when the time comes. But I don’t want to have to work until I am 70 just so I can live off cat food in my one room apartment. I have had 4 years of post secondary education, umptenst amount of seminars, over 10 years in management roles proving I am a Team player and a Team leader – I work a 55+ work week, to be able to meet my expense obligations. And if that were not bad enough my boss does not appreciate what I do, feels that 55+ is normal and god forbid I have to take a vacation. I don’t get a lunch break most days or I would be here past 6 and my only break seems to be when I get a moment I can write and reply to the Coast while eating over my keyboard. AND you want to hear the disturbing thing, I am the NORM! I know for fact that there 100’s of people just like me.If I lived alone I would be near starving to death so I cannot even imagen what all thoses people who live alone do!I think if people are moving away to be able to live better than good, more power to them, maybe just maybe things may change for the better here if our province want’s to keep people here.I don’t mean to be bitter but really…Another thing- education is only good for moving away, most of those careers or jobs that you are paying to elarn for are taking and no body is going anywhere soon cause they know what’s out there- that’s my opinion.
The tuitions in this province are obscene. I was talking to a young guy this morning who told me his brother owes $35,000 for his education and still has a year of university left. To think a young person has to start out in life with that much debt in tow is criminal. How in the hell can you ever think of owning a home or having a family? It’s really sad to think about.
Its a dumb conservative hick what do your expect? The conservative family values thing kinda fall apart when you cheat on your wife.
