I’m submitting my bitchery not only because I’m frustrated beyond imaginable, but because I think future roommates can benefit from my past naivety. Not only was I screwed out of my damage deposit (the apartment was immaculate when I left it), but my roommate also failed to pay her share of months worth of power and long distance bills. Please, people, split your bills RIGHT down the centre and sit down with your roommate monthly to figure out odds and ends. And make sure your damage deposit is separate on the lease, so that the landlord is not obligated to give it all to one party at the termination of the lease. The hundreds of dollars that she owes me, I will never see again. You might think someone is trustworthy and a friend, but I wouldn’t count on it.

I had the same problem when i agree to share an apartment with a friend of 6 years. Let’s say he owes me thousands that i’ll never see again. Who would have thought a good friend that you considered as a sibling would do that to someone?
So it goes. My sympathies, but all part of being a grown up. Some accomplish the task before others and take responsibility for their commitments. At least you are not the asshole in this story NF.
Small claims court. That’s sounds like some of the more common complaints that pass through there.
Matt and the original poster I hear you both. I have been screwed over too but also have had close friends for over 10 years. I also have had so called friends send me a youtube video that I didn’t like they got pissed off with it and broke up a friendship over it. Like what the fuck!! Matt I feel for you cause you not only lost someone who is a friend but also the cash to go with it! sorry to hear that dude. hope things get better.
