I’ve been checking around to try to find a job for about a month now, going from place to place, dropping off resumes, mostly sending stuff through the online job market. But wouldn’t you think that when a sign on a storefront says ‘now hiring’ they in fact are hiring, but no! That’s not the case. I’m pointing to you, Quinpool Road, and the slew of stores that tote these lies. Especially since one of you just laid folks off. When people are out looking for jobs, especially minimum wage jobs they need to work quickly and shouldn’t have to spend half a day filling out that crazily tedious application when there’s no possibility of employment. Sure, you’re keeping their resumes for 6 months but let’s face it, you’re probably not going to look at those 6 month old resumes and if you do how is it relevant to someone who’s looking for minimum wage work right now? Just put out those signs when you’re actually looking for people and stop wasting our time, your window space, and the hopes and dreams of us kids in town. —Annoyed and Not Employed

  1. Dear Annoyed……….fuck off, they owe you nothing.

If you are b!tching about filling out an application imaging what you would do when you actually have to go to your shift……..geezuz

  2. Exactly Koda. This sounds like a stand-up employee right here. I just don’t see why you’re not getting any interviews …

  3. You don’t need to fill out an application for panhandling.
Just a location and permission from the union rep.

  4. you want a job o.p., gaurentee you to get one, if you go see atlantic building cleaners. they will hire anyone, just min. wage, but what the fuck, it helps pay bills. go see them, bet you will be working in less than a week.

  5. I agree with Sucks, went for building cleaning (in a big airport. ew.) for a summer job a number of years ago. Definitely not nice but pays the bill and they hire damn fast.

  6. Oh O.P. you must be pretty dumb to be looking for work at this time of year. Smart students start looking for work in FEBRUARY. Which means, no jobs are going to be hiring this late into the summer unless you are pretty outstanding… which you clearly arent…

  7. Who the hell gets pissed about not getting a minimum wage job? Those employers are doing you a favor. Get an education and a real money paying job like everyone else.

  8. “Who the hell gets pissed about not getting a minimum wage job?”

    people who can’t get a higher-than-min-wage job.

  9. Keep an eye on the stars while you’re washing dishes, and one day you’ll leave the kitchen … unless you’re a woman (I kid).

  10. OP, it’s who you know here in NS.
I had to leave the province to grow.
All my friends left the province to work. None of them were able to get a job here.
    None of them have returned.
I got my ex her job, with a company she applied for several times. When I got my boss to talk to her and forward her resume to that same company, all of a sudden she was attractive and useful to them, when she wasn’t 2 months prior!
How I got my job? I know the guy that worked here before me. They hired me the same day they met me!

Ask a lot of people with great jobs and they’ll all say the same thing. Who you know (most of the time) 🙂
