I know Pictou very well – it’s the kind of town where the primary concerns are booze, drugs, VLTs, pounding the shit out of your spouse and fucking around on same. Dress requirements for the guys are a baseball hat, baggy ass jeans and untied workboots. Most of the women are 250 pounds+ and wear anything that clings to their cascading rolls of blubber. If you go to their summer Lobster Carnival, it’s more like a manatee convention.

Somehow I’m thankful to live in Halifax, even though we apparently aren’t civilized enough to filter our sewage or construct buildings over 6 stories…
don’t even go there about deed transfer taxes, it and a host of other mind numbing shit iss the cities way of saying, we want all your money. how about the land migration bullshit. if you get a piece of land, and a road,river, lake,or even a fucking brook, 2 feet wide crosses. you have to have another fucking stupid p.i.d. number, and that friends, can cost you up to or more than a 1,000 bucks. this is the shit i’m going thru now, with some land i’m selling. and you, as the seller, have to do this, not the fucking buyer, so it offsets your sale price. then you have the gougers, known as lawyers that take a chunk too. then tax land tax people who rub their greedy little fucking mitts with glee, that they are stealing more from you, for that extra p.i.d. number. your taxes rise, and they hit you with 2 or more separate bills now. ain’t nova scotia a fucking wonderful place to call home. no wonder people are fucking moving.
yes indeed Pictou County…I live here and used to work at ICT some of the comments are right on! Some are not so ..most women are not 250 pounds! They are the same as every where else various sizes! But there is no place I would rather live where every week there is a benefit for someone who is sick, or lost a loved one. We may not have a lot here but we all care for each other, people still turn one thier lights and pull over as a hearst takes someone on their last ride to the cementry. You can walk the streets and not have to worry about being shot or stabbed.If your car is broke down on the side of the raod there will always be someone who stops to see if there is anything they can do for you. So it may not be the best place to look for a job, and our newspaper is lacking, hence this is why I use my computer to get the news! But Pictou County has heart and soul of everything you could want in a small town!
