Just because there is a temporary obstruction to the flow of traffic in your lane, be it a bus stopping to drop off/pick up passengers, a cab doing the same, or a city garbage truck doing its thing, does NOT mean you have the right to use the oncoming lane to get to your destination 0.2 minutes sooner. For the love of Velociraptor Jesus, just fucking wait, or at the very least, wait until it is obvious that there are no oncoming cars. I am tired of jamming on the brakes and swerving because YOUR lane is impeded… if worse comes to worst and we do have a head on collision, guess whose fault it will be, “Mr. Wrong McLanerson”? —Swervey McSwerverson

  1. I find Robie Street between North and Quinpool really bad for this. If you’re travelling south, there are lots of temporary obstructions in the far right lane – busses, parked cars, etc.

For that reason, I always stick to the middle lane on that particular stretch. But lots of drivers in that lane just come on over whenever they encounter something, with not so much as a glance over their shoulder. I can’t count how many times I’ve had to slam on the brakes or swerve to avoid being sideswiped.

  2. Same thing same area happened to me this morning, I normally take the bus but today I needed my wifes car for an errand and was taking her to work, this Tard darted in an out of lanes and I still can’t figure out how he or she didn’t get in an accident. Not sure if you can report this kind of driving to the police or if they will do anything about it

  3. I HATE that.

If YOUR lane is blocked for whatever reason, but mine is free flowing YOU have to wait until it is safe for you to procede. I do not have to stop to allow you to go around whatever is blocking. Traffic in my lane is moving along because my lane is not blocked.

Patience, grasshoppers, patience. Your destination will still be there if it takes you an extra 2.3minutes to get there.

  4. it is dangerous driving, license plate, description of car and driver (can’t issue a ticket without knowing who was driving), time, location etc.

we almost got creamed one day on the circ and found all this out. they got a verbal warning cause we couldn’t see who was driving.

  5. Happens all the time, and they EXPECT it; THAT is what gets me. Welcome to Halifax, where we are frantically trying to catch up to Toronto in the Fuck-everyone-else category.

  6. Install catapults and plows on the taxis and buses…..might be difficult with those fat people though. Just drive in the lane that is likely to have less traffic or vehicles stopping. But then, there are those morons who block a whole lane trying to turn.

  7. perhaps since you know you’er in the right and don’t want to be Swervey McSwerverson anymore…
you should try to be more of a Holdey Your McGrounderson and see how great their insurance is.

  8. “But then, there are those morons who block a whole lane trying to turn.”

Just like the morons trying to date a married man or who just talk.

  9. i had a big fucking rented suv the other day, and saw some of the insanest shit ever. two idiots racing each other. but that isn’t insane is it, you ask? it is if they are racing in reverse, at well over 50 miles an hour. and this was on the hiway going to fucking truro at about 2 p.m., daylight.
i thought i had seen it all, but guess i was wrong there.and you talk about druivers here and t.o., and montreal. maybe you should try germany, italy, or france. man, these people wrote the books on ignorance. when i was in berlin a few years back, i couldn’t believe some of the shit the do. france was next on the list, followed by italy, and yes, even denmark. but they are high over there most of the time, so that would be their excuse.

  10. People do this shit on the dartmouth side of the McDonald bridge as well. Each of the toll lanes lines up with a lane at the intersection following, and morons will go through the left most lane when they’re going to be making a right after the bridge… /rage

They’ll all be consumed in the Velocirapture.
