Why do you hire that hapless dude to harrass me for my personal information? I know it’s for some “contest” which I don’t care about, but come on. It’s like talking to a telemarketer face to face. The guy has a script, which you can tell he probably recites in his sleep. His eyes are dead. The last time he approached me I said I was in a hurry, which I was, so couldn’t talk to him. The response? Dead eyed stare. Fuck the hell off and get a real job. And hardware store, please hire someone who doesn’t look like he cries himself to sleep at night.

I had the same thing happen to me and I tried to tell the guy I wasn’t interested and he followed me and kept cutting in front of me insisting that I give him my personal information to get a free gift.
I finally gave in and he gave me a crappy pen that doesn’t work, and a week later I get a letter in the mail saying I was declined for their credit card.
Waste of my time.
You gave personal information and they used that as an application for a credit card? Anytime you apply for credit, it’s marked on your credit report. I’m hoping you gave permission. If not, I’d be speaking to someone about that.
PS. I haven’t encountered this, but that would annoy the fuck out of me.
HAHAHAHA this annoying guy used to troll around the Zellars in New Minas once upon 10 years ago and harass you to sign up for a zellars card. He would have things like “sign up and get free fries!” or some other stupid “incentive.”
Thing WAS, when you declined he’d get REALLY upset. Once he kept yelling at my mother “DON’T YOU LIKE FREE FRIES??? HUH??? FREE FRIES” and shaking his fist as we walked away.
You could literally see people RUNNING away in the opposite direction when they saw him coming.
This guy approached me as well, but he said he could fill out all the info for me if I gave him my drivers license. So I did, why not, I was looking for a few things in there anyway. It took maybe 2 minutes at most and all I had to do was answer a few questions. The guy thanked me because he has a certain quota he had to fill before he could go home and everyone in the store was giving him the dead eye stare.
Here’s a thought, why not complain to the hardware store management instead of an online message board or take out your frustration on an employee who basically has no say over these stupid cards or contests. At least there’s a chance it will be heard by the right ears. And don’t blame the employees who are only there because they need to make a living. They guy told me working there was basically hell, and the only reason why he was still there was because there is little to no work in this city for students.
So before you get all fucking hot and flabbergasted over something so stupid, take some time to think and maybe you won’t act like a douche bag everywhere you shop.

The Canadian Tire mastercard.
Its the worst fucking job in the world. I do not like to bug people while they are shopping, its such a hard job to do. And when I do manage to go ask someone, it really sucks when they swear and yell at me and one guy actually made me cry. He was a dick.
We get paid per application, no hourly wage. So just remember, giving me two minutes of your time to fill out a form gets me 6 dollars closer to paying my rent.
