I’ve been in your shoes and there is a grounds for hating Halifax, especially when it comes to some of the petty bullshit that goes on and the fact that there are some people on power trips here and there. It’s easy to get fed up.
But once you leave, visiting the rest of Canada and traveling through Europe, you forget about the petty bullshit, and realize Halifax IS full of friendly faces and some exquisite party people! So, when people talk about Halifax’s charm, friendly nature and party scene, and you wonder what the fuck they’re talking about… just try to really imagine yourself in a big city where people don’t smile as they pass you on the street, you don’t run into friends on a regular basis, and frankly, people just don’t party like Scotians. I agree that it sounds cliche and that shit doesn’t matter, but once it’s not there, you learn to appreciate it. When you move away from home, you realize exactly why you’re proud to be a Nova Scotian and you realize you’d love to show it off to all the new people you meet.
Sending love your way Halifax! —Can’t Wait to Move Back Home
