Oh, suck on my skin tags, OP – throughout Halifax history that area has been used by military, Royal visits, emergency quarters during and after the Explosion, the fucking Pope, et al and all you fuckers can do is boo-hoo-fucking-hoo over something that’s been churned up at least a couple of times a decade since the 1800s. Yes OP that’s right, it is a “public space”, and about 60,000 of the public will be occupying it this weekend rocking out to a legend.

The Commons is available for rent – always has been. When there’s a baseball game going on there, do you walk into the middle of the diamond crying that it’s a “public space?”
I especially like his reasoning… I’m going to walk to the gas station now and buy some candy, when they ask me for money I will say “fuck you, give me money”.

And you don’t have to pay, on the go, for the other 363 days of the year. So very sorry for the inconvenience that these 2 days will cause everyone, but hey, at least it gives the naysayers something different to complain about. We wouldn’t be the city we are if not for you partypoopers. 😉
Hey, on the go, there are plenty of other green spaces in HRM that you can visit (that are completely free I might add) while everyone else is having fun. I don’t buy this “the Commons is the only green space in HRM” bullshit.

3. Citadel Hill
4. Victoria Park
All green spaces, all in the downtown core, take your pick because in my mind all of them rate higher then the commons in terms of enjoyable spaces. Leave the commons to those paying to use it for a once in a lifetime (in HFX) concert. I just don’t get this bitch – and so many people have it!
Jesus if we aren’t bitching about how no big acts ever come to our small city we’re bitching about how all the big acts coming to our small city are taking up too much space.
I would rather a musical legend (baby seal douchbaggery put aside) come here than god forbid not be able to walk in a straight line for a couple of days.
What the fuck do you do on the commons that’s better than seeing fucking Paul McCartney play live? Play ultimate frisbee? Pick up your dogs shit? What? Seriously I want to know!
That’s exactly right fizz, other than baseball, ultimate frisbee, and dog walkers, the commons is just a shortcut for people walking somewhere. Suck it up for 2 goddam weeks people. I don’t foresee your complaints deterring the city from using the site for concerts anytime soon, but hey, keep blowing that hot air, should make for a hot summer.

Just another little bit of info…I worked on helping to install the stage, lighting & sound system for that show. We were a crew of over 100 stage hands all of us are from this area with some traveling crew (obviously) & some other crews from New Brunswick as well. I personally worked over 80 hours from Sunday Morning to Friday night & we still have to remove it on Saturday night & Sunday. These were good paying jobs (my rate was in excess of $20.00 per hour.)
So even though I turned down working during the show, & do not plan to attend, I hope they hit the 50,000 plus crowd !
Surely these people deserve to “use” the commons on occassion & are paying for the privledge unlike anyone who for some reason may go there daily & seem to think this space should be theirs exclusively ! ! !

That’s what I don’t get, folks pay about $100,000 more to live in the heart of the city, if you bought a house that is, or they’ll pay several hundred a month more if they rent; just to be nestled in tight with all the other like-minded-folk. Then the city behaves like a city and it’s “You dirty fuckers for disturbing me!” I don’t get that. That’s kinda lost with me. Why did you get so close to seathing humanity if you don’t like humanity’s ways.
The country is a great place for folks that like the peace ‘n quiet, EH!!!
That’s right Smee, and actually you don’t have to go far to enjoy a little more peace and quiet. I live in the Forest Hills / Cole Harbour and love it. Ironically, we could hear the bass from the concert on our back deck.
