Why don’t the cruising police remove dangerous accident-causing garbage (blown tires, logs, pieces of wood, etc.) from main highways instead of sitting and waiting for unsuspecting drivers who may happen to exceed a posted limit by 10km per hour? And don’t tell me they pick up garbage, because I’ve seen them pass by while I had to swerve to miss a huge blown truck tire. —Sherlock

All cops everywhere, at all times, no matter if they have their lights flashing/sirens blaring or not are on their way to a call of the utmost importance. How dare you accuse our finest citizens in charge of keeping our society safe of not doing their job.
I’ve seen a cop swerve around highway debris and just keep on going, but he was on a call (I couldn’t tell that because he wasn’t in a rush or driving with lights flashing or anything, but apparently that doesn’t matter), so he was probably saving the lives of a bag full of babies so it’s excused.
Because that falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation, you stupid twat.
there are other departments that can show up with 10 foot high blinking signs that tend to get stupid drivers to slow down for them.
Why don’t the cops shovel my walkway/driveway when it’s snowing out instead of just waiting for someone to slip and fall?
Why don’t the cops sandbag the ditches during heavy rains to keep rising flood water from flowing over the road?
Why don’t the cops pick up all the dirty cigarette butts that litter the sidewalks outside city businesses as they stroll by on their beat?
Why don’t the cops empty the full to overflowing garbage cans around the city and at the bus stops as they go walking by on their beat?
Why don’t they save money and have the cops deliver the mail on rural routes since they are driving out there anyway? Or deliver my pizza?
CUZ IT’S NOT THEIR JOB, THAT’S WHY.
How do you know that he/she didn’t place a call to Dept of Highways or to his/her dispatch notfying them of the debris? Truth is you don’t know so …SHUUUUT IT!
Why didn’t YOU stop and move it, OB? Safety on the road is EVERYBODY’S responsibility after all.
Sherlock, that’s possibly one of the stupidest posts EVER! There’s a broom in the rack right below the shotgun too I’ll bet!
the most dangerous thing i have seen, are those stupid fucking crosses, where someone got wasted. yeah okay, you drive along, all of a sudden, there they are. you look for a split second or so, then vnext thing, you are up someone else’s ass, that did the same thing. if they are not buried there, get them the fuck out of there.really, if you were one of the family members, would you want to see that, every fucking day, on the way to work? let the dead rest where they are buried, not make a shrine to someone, who could cause more deaths, by having this shit on the sides of the roads.
Your all right, it’s not their job. But… They do have an emergency vehicle equipped with lights and whatnot making it a lot safer to stop and remove smaller pieces of road debris, instead of a regular person running out into a busy highway to grab stuff off the road. It may not be in their job description, but highway safety is. Where do we draw the line on safety and responsibility?
RCMP don’t even stop for stranded motorist anymore, so why should they pick up garbage?

um……..how often has anyone seen a log on the road? and did you see a police officer drive around it and continue on his way?
ROTFLMAO!!!
OB, it’s not that difficult to avoid things on the road, and rarely is there a tire, crate, deer, homeless vagrant, etc there. Cops don’t waste their time pulling people who are driving 10km/hr over the speed limit. I suggest you drive faster and then when they pull you over, lecture them on trash removal and see how far you get. FFS.
