So, I know this is not a new thing, but I am bitching because I thought things would change by now. How much of a security risk is my toothpaste? Really?

I mean the shoe thing I could understand for a while because some numpty actually lit their shoes on fire. But we got over that. Why is this liguids thing hanging around for so long? What’s next? Some guys try to rig thier assholes to blow and we all get anal probed before a flight?

These “security” procedures don’t make me feel any safer. They are just a symbol to remind us to be scared. I would personally feel more secure in an airport without security…like I do at a train station or Bus Stop.

just plane fed up

  1. Well, I think a little more security is needed in an airport because people don’t generally hijack trains and buses. And I don’t think the thumbprints and retinal scans they do in the US is that far off from anal probing either. As for the other stuff, if you know you can’t take liquids in your carry-on, don’t pack ’em —– Hastle avoided. But I agree it’s taking things a bit far.

  2. People don’t generally hijack planes either… the rules around liquids are just a lame ass, American conspiracy to instill fear in North Americans so they can continue to legitimate their wars, foreign policy, etc. Canada is sadly willing to bend over and take it. Just think, it all came about from a hoax in London- there was no plot and still, years later, I can’t bring a bottle of fucking shampoo on the plane. Why is it that my metal nail file was allowed but not my shampoo? Such a lot of bullshit. I am sick of all this silliness- I flew in Europe shortly after the whole hoax was revealed- when Canada and the US were freaking and had no problem bringing anything on my flights to Paris and Ireland- and the fake plot was in Europe! Sadly, that changed and the rest of Europe adopted American paranoia. I am so sick of this shit. I want to bring my god-damn products on the bloody plane with me- is it too much to ask??

  3. No, they don’t generally hijack planes, but when they do the results can be more problematic than when hihacking a bus or a train, and i’m not just talking about flying them into buildings. It is a lot easier to safely disable a train or a bus on the move than to force a plane to land. But your point is well taken…the risk of hijacking is low enough that i wouldn’t lose sleep over it and it does not seem to justify the rediculousness of the new security measures. The only way to make air travel perfectly safe is to stop putting planes in the air. Life is full of risks, and you can’t take all the risk out of life. You just have to deal with it I guess.

  4. ok all you colgate and crest users put down your weapons and advance slowly to the overweight security guard with the one button off from the top and jelly stain. no no no !! what down down! face down…code red face down that man got toothpaste! oh for fuck sakes
