I’m sick to death of not finding parking on campus. I pay for a permit but that only earns me to the right to hunt for a spot. I have to plan my life around parking. I get stressed if there is someone driving slow in front of me on my morning commute in case it costs me a spot. I curse pedestrians who will result in my having to circle the blocks. I dread snowfalls, rainfalls, or any other unpredictable even that will slow down traffic. It is a constant, ridiculous stress that I just don’t need!!!

You fucking crybaby – take a bus! Put that U-Pass to good use. You’re not in a position to complain when other valid options are available to you.
don’t like looking for a parking spot, then fucking walk to dal, you lazy motherfucking bitch.do like a lot of us had to do.
If you pay for a permit yet the lot is over-sold a little lesson in tort law might do the university some good.
Kay, shut up. My many heathen gods you’re dense.
Paying the permit allows you to merely park on university property; it does NOT guarantee a spot for you. Its not a new phenomenon and happens at every university. Not every single student is on campus at the same time so there are spaces available. Overall, it is not the responsibility of the university to ensure you a parking spot. They just make sure you pay for the parking privilege.
You’ve admitted to not being a lawyer before so could you (finally) stop pretending to be one?
One does not have to be a lawyer to know when they’re getting ripped off. I would challenge paying for any service I could not realize with regularity if that’s what was sold to me and why it was sold to me.
man, everyone’s pretty harsh today. Must be all that pent up bitchiness due to the intermittent rate the bitches have been posted lately.
Kay, students are made aware that its merely a permit to park on campus but does not guarantee a spot. I know most logic just goes over your head but even you could wrap your nappy weave around this.
Its not the same as a ticket to an event which guarantees your seat and section.
No matter how your messed-up brain attempts to justify your argument, you’re not correct and your “rights” are not being violated.
This is akin to purchasing a bus pass and having the bus drive past you full 9 times out of 10. How is this NOT getting ripped off? Unfortunately the city can’t cap the number of bus passes they sell and instead have to purchase more buses as demand rises. Dal has a similar problem so should cap the number of permits they issue and if there is no (reasonable) cap it stands to say they’re an office collecting money without providing a service, which is exactly the point of this bitch so I concur. So what? Fuck off, Fat.
Even when you’re wrong you just HAVE to be right, don’t you?
Too bad, you’re still wrong. No matter what pointless logic/argument you present – you’re still WRONG.
Eat a dick, kay. Just use a black marker to draw a beard around your lady-moustache first.
I hope you’re clutching your bus pass tightly as the bus blows past you, Fat. I hope it happens 9 times in a row and THEN you’d qualify as a good bitch who may be able to relate to paying for a service you didn’t get. In the meantime just keep sniffin’ those “magic” markers.
Typical kay: she’s wrong so has to start with cheap insults.
Yeah, I’ll continue with the markers, kay. You just keep sniffing other dogs’ butt cracks like you normally do!
Universities are kings of collecting money. You should already know that kay. You know, back when I went to Dal, a buddy and I split the parking pass and it worked out quite well. Most of our classes started in the morning, which required us to be there early and we never missed out on a parking spot, even when we had to find parking for the busiest class in the entire university, PSY 1001. The OP just doesn’t want to have to go early, I think. That’ll learn ya. Much like buying every single textbook, sometimes buying everything that is suggested doesn’t make any sense. Hey, OP. Dal has always had parking issues. This isn’t anything new. Do as everyone suggests. Use the bus. It’s easier. Unless you live in a rural area, then you have to make an educated decision to either go early, or move closer to school. That’s a choice I had to make, and it’s a choice everyone has to consider eventually, I think.
OB welcome to the real world.
Folks ever notice no matter what a bitch is about that kay just has to make it about herself. I think there’s a psychiatric term for that.
OKKKKKKK, NGF/Kay bullshit aside, I think your best bet, OP is to save on the parking pass and consider taking the bus if you’re in the immediate area OR try a park and ride if you’re not. Dartmouth Bridge Terminal has a park and ride (not free, but isn’t overly expensive), so does Sackville (glendale and sackville terminal) and I’m sure there are places to park and take the bus from bedford and Clayton park (I think Portland Hills terminal has one too)…so save your money and consider that. The bus isn’t always the most fun to use, but the 10, 42 and 41 all have direct routes on Dal’s campus and the 17/18/14 and 7 drive by pretty close and the 80/81 can drop you off on Robie/SGR and there’s a short walk down Robie to University or you can hop the 1 and get off on Coburg…
So lots of options to get yourself to Dal via bus from all major parts of HRM.
The first two comments seem to assume that the bus or walking are options. My first year, I lived in fucking Tantallon, with bus service that ran twice daily, completely at odds with my class schedule. So I drove. I don’t know if Tantallon’s bus service has improved, but I’m not holding my breath.
I was lucky enough to find a nice little spot about to park that was always available, legal, and 5 minutes from the majority of my classes. Win!
Life Sucks, what’s your deal? Why do you need to follow presumption with being an asshole?
I live way out of the city have my child in a daycare in the city and still manage to find a parking spot with my permit everyday- you just have to get to campus early enough- if you don’t mind studying at one of the MANY libraries or possibly going for a coffee before class then your fine. Simple fact is there is parking there if your willing to get up earlier then five minutes before class.
Mr Woof: my suggestion of utilizing a park and ride parking lot and hopping the bus is definitely viable if you live outside the city.
I love how people bitch about parking at the universities around HRM when there’s excellent bus service from all major centres in HRM (I used to commute from the valley and would park in sackville and take the bus downtown). When I went to Acadia I didn’t live within walking distance and HAD to drive because there is no bus service from where I was coming from…and you think parking is a nightmare at Dal/SMU/MSVU? AHAHAHAHAHA. THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY PLACES YOU CAN PARK IN WOLFVILLE, OK?
First World Problems.
Park and Ride WUSSY, Park and Ride….Take the damn bus with the pass that is included in your tuition….
Stupid ass
I have to agree, holy shit I paid for a one day pass in Sept and I couldn’t even find a f-ing spot. Basically I paid so I could drive around, not find anything and waste $9 bucks. I tried to get my money back and the assholes at the security office wouldn’t give me a dime. Fuck Them.
You should have found a parking spot THEN purchased a day-pass. D-U-H.
Back in my Dal days (pre U-pass and when I lived in White’s Lake so it made no difference), I’d just street park and risk the ticket. It cost me less in parking tickets for a semester than it did to buy a non-guaranteed pass. The side streets are patrolled only enough to keep it in people’s minds. Just in case, do plan a trip back to the car to check for chalk lines on the tires if you can.
Best advice has been given already, if you can take a bus, do so.
Feel the wolfvegas pain there kitty… I’d avoid driving just because I got a sweet spot and knew it would be scooped up within minutes of leaving….
Nice Goin’ Fat, ya you fucking moron, because I have 30 mins to find it 30 mins to walk to the fucking office and 30 mins to walk back to put it on the car. Must be nice to be a no life loser.
