As a cyclist, we have the same right to access the road as vehicles. Yesterday was a wonderful day to bike to Peggy’s Cove from Halifax. Myself and 5 friends all biked on the road in a 2 by 3 formation. Sure, we cannot do the 80km/hr speed limit, but we have the right to be on that road. Driving behind us honking your horns because there were no passing lane accomplished nothing. Driving up hills slows us down, so sorry if it slowed a few cars. It’s a scenic drive, so enjoy the drive and take in the fresh air following us. We WILL NOT go single file just so drivers can pass by! —TwoWheelie

My understanding is that you can take up as much room as required for safety, so is this a safety thing?
How can you be safer side-by-side taking up more of a lane where some jackass driver is most likely going to illegally pass you which could cause more problems than single-file riding?
there was your problem o.p. you are supposed to ride, single file, same as motorcycles are. if you were to get hit by a car, it would be your fault, and you would be liable, for any damages to other vehicle(car, truck).

I bike, I’m new to road biking… but I took a bike safety course not long ago and the first thing they teach you when they take you out with a group on the road, is to bike single file because not biking single file is freaking dangerous and will cause a motherfucking accident!

OB is one of the reason that bicycles used on public roads should be licensed, registered safety and taxed! They all scream they have the right to be on the road with other vehicles, then they should have to pay like all other vehicle owners. If these two organ donors riding side by side had caused an accident due to their obscene misunderstanding of bicycle operations on a road there is no way to record it. They could pedel on their merry way and the people involved would have no right to reclaim any damages. Not all, but most cyclists i have encounter have no idea of how to operate on city streets, on and off the sidewalks, riding through crosswalks, cutting corners at red lights and stop signs. I’m an avid cyclist and would always pull over to the side if i was impeding traffic. If the OP was going up hill then I assume they were doing 20km/h max. If I was a driver, I would honk as well. It’s rude and gives cyclists a black eye.
I’d simply use my celphone to call the cops…while filming them with the digital camera I always carry .
If theres one thing I learned after my last court visit…Judges L O V E, photographs that clearly show what your trying to explain… a good video of that kind of Bullshit riding, would be all it took for their wallets to become thinner after a judge got through with them.
Which IMO is a better way to get them than running them over ! THere’d be no sympathy, as there would be if they got bowled over & hurt/killed.
