So last night, I’m out for a ride on my bike, going down the hill towards Sobeys when some kid decides to cross the street. He looks right at me, and appears to be ready to stop in the middle of the street so I can go by, but instead continues on because there’s a car behind me, so I have to SLAM on my brakes so I don’t hit him. What’s your problem? You couldn’t speed up so you’d get across the street in time? Would you have rather seen me flip over my handlebars, because if I had to stop a second sooner that’s probably what would have happened.

Also… totally happy about more bike lanes around the city, BUT IT MAKES IT FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE TO BIKE IN THEM WHEN YOU PARK YOUR FUCKING TRUCK THERE! Seriously! I don’t park my bike in the lane of traffic, so don’t park your truck in my bike lane!

just wanted to go for a bike ride…

  1. boo fucking hoo. YOU ( because MOST cyclist and motorists get this ) have to yield right of way to pedestrians. Its obvious from your post that you saw him in time too. So whats your bitch? if he just ran out in front of you, that’s one thing; can’t be helped. So you saw him and figured he should stop for YOU? HAHAHA

  2. It’s called defensive driving, and it doesn’t discriminate bike riders. You should learn it, since you obviously had such a hard time with this pedestrian walking on the street.

  3. If I understand the post correctly, the issue is that the pedestrian (who was likely jay-walking) stopped, as though to let the bike pass, and then changed his mind at the last second. This is tantamount to running out in front of the cyclist, really. I’d be peeved at that, too. Find a crosswalk and make everyone’s lives easier. Personally, I don’t jay-walk. I jay-run. If I’m not in an actual crosswalk, I don’t have the right to stop traffic.
