Loving all the beautiful gardens this year. It seems like there are more and more popping up each year. Thank you to everyone putting effort into making Halifax a nicer place to live in, even if it’s not the intention we all benefit from it. 🙂

All able, grab a spade and seed! Let’s make this city even more beautiful to live in (and let’s be honest, some parts of this city really need beautifying. Imagine if we all pitched in?) —Optimistic

  1. whenever I go down north st I love to see the boulevard plantings. flowers around the trees. lush groundcovers. there’s one house though, whose tiny patch is just too manicured. someone using nail clippers on the bit of grass. provides a smile anyway

  2. oh wonderfully witchy woman! I was just thinking about hydrangeas. I have none, and blue would be my favourite. the colour may change if my soil acidity is different from yours, but I like pink, too! I ordered a huge box of plants from that place on the island, and forgot to pick it up for 2 weeks. the poor rose ( a yellow climber) was just a stick wrapped in plastic. it sat on my back deck for another 2 weeks while I dithered about where to plant the thing. but it lives! stuck it in a hole by the shed and spoke sternly to it.
why do you have excess roses?

  3. we have this mutant rose bush, very hardy, it produces many flowers but they are reaching the end

  4. let me know if you need a bleeding heart (no not the lurid cat-o-lick kind) i will be dividing my monster in a while. and lady’s mantle. damn stuff is like a weed. also have some leftover 1st year black hollyhock in little pots.

  5. I love to hear people talk about their garden when for years they swore they had a brown thumb and could grow nothing. We make things so complex when something as simple as a potted flower can evoke a smile.
