To the lovely lady who honked and screamed at me from her car on the corner of Gottingen and Cogswell today just before noon. I realize I stepped out onto the intersection a couple of seconds before the light indicated I had the right of way, but by the time you got half way through the intersection and were honking and screaming… I had the right of way!

Now, I realize I was in the wrong by stepping out before I was supposed to.. but as you’re taking this all out on me, please realize that YOU JUST BOMBED THROUGH A YELLOW LIGHT! Yellow does not mean STEP ON IT! So don’t honk at me, don’t shrug your shoulders at me and yell at me like I am in the wrong. Maybe you need a “crash” course in road regulations lady.

  1. You’re lucky your stupidity (and your right? A lot that will do when you’re in the hospital or dead) didn’t get you killed. You stepped out before you were legally allowed. The amber light indicates to drivers to slow down and come to a stop, if it is safe to do so.

A driver 30-50 away from a light that turns amber and travelling even at 40kmh cannot safely stop in that distance.

Use your fucking head, you are flesh and blood and believe me that doesn’t beat steel.

  2. Survival of the fittest is still alive and well as a poor gene pool product reduction mechanism. Bo Tim, it’s best to just let nature take it’s course.

  3. Its stupid shithead moves like yours that get other people in trouble……. use your damn head!

  4. Sounds like both were in the wrong to me. OP shouldn’t step off of the curb without a green or walk signal (especially when cars are coming…duh!) and way too many drivers in Halifax speed through amber lights…even when the amber light has turned red (I think this is another bitch all together though).

  5. OP here… I’m not saying I was right, I’m trying to say we were both wrong.. she was just freaking out as if I were the only one in the wrong here. It’s not like the light changed as she was entering the intersection, she say the yellow and gunned it. I see drivers in this city do it all the time. They (as well as I) need to be more careful. 😉

  6. The thing is Ped&Proud, when you are behind the wheel of a vehicle, and someone makes a mistake like yours (almost causing the driver to kill you), it tends to make their blood boil which causes freaking out. I’m normally happy and easy to get along with, but when someone does something like you did and scares the shit out of me, the rage overcomes me!

  7. P&P how far from the intersection was the car? The driver yelled at you because your impatience almost got you killed and scared the hell out of the driver.

  8. HOly GOd what is up with walkers in this city??? Just chill out! THey are driving machinery and you are walking. Why do you think just cause you hit the button it is connected to the next driver. Walking out into the street scares drivers and I find now they just slam on their freaking brakes at the slightest move to anyone wanting to cross the street. She is probably just pissed at your impatience and walking out into traffic is just well…I think we all learn that we must look both ways no matter what is painted on the street or flashing or whatever…People can sleep at the wheel so why not just walk awake.

  9. I am not defending the OP here but will say this. I have been in Hfax for two years and trust me..you have the WORST drivers in the WORLD. No contest. Not even close. For example. I would ask everyone to go to a busy intersection anywhere in the HRM and sit in a chair and count how many idiotic morons run red lights in this city! It is un fucking real!! And I do not mean yellow getting ready to turn red so you cannot safely stop. I mean you are half a block back and gun it when you see the yellow light and it is already red when you get there lunacy. Heaven fucking forbid you may need to sit through a red light! When I am at a red light and it turns green in this city I always count off a couple of seconds before I go. This has saved me on more than one occassion as I have watched idiots whizz through. Perhaps they are just expecting it to turn a darker shade of red before they stop?

  10. If you think Halifax has the “worst drivers in the world” you’ve got to get out more. I’ve been to numerous big/small cities in various countries and believe me, I would feel safer in the middle of the street in DT halifax than I would in a “crosswalk” in some other cities…
