Yesterday while having a walk , I saw the worst and most disrespectful attitude towards an Arab lady. The lady was covered with a veil, which I guess is religious wear and an fucking old bitch lady stopped her – yelling at her to take that shit off her head and accusing her for being a terrorist I was like WHAT THE FUCK?!

I couldn’t hold my temper anymore – watching that innocent lady saying I’m not terrorist, defending herself … I tried explaining to that old bitch it’s not her business if she covers or not. Her excuse was when I go to Arab countries I respect the culture and I cover up, now she is in my land she should remove her veil… I was SHOCKED! I wanted to smack that bitch and knock her on the floor… my God, what the fuck? Why does it matter if religious people cover up? Who gives a shit about it? They don’t give a shit watching us with mini skirts or out the bar drunk, they don’t stop us and say COVER-UP. If you’re a retarded bitch fine stick with it, not everyone wants to be a bitch like you, you OLD FUCKING UGLY LADY.

… Oh yeah and that veiled lady she was GORGEOUS covered but way much better than most of girls on the street ..

  1. Gotta love how white people still think Canada belongs to them. Go back to England, France, Holland or wherever you racist fucks. If anything my people should have butchered the early settlers or made them remove their puritan hats while being in *my* land now.

  2. I’m glad you helped out that Muslim lady and assured her that you recognized that the old lady was out of line (assuming she saw you confront ye olde bitch).

    @Nice Goin’ Fat
So, the old lady thinks the Muslim doesn’t fit in here and YOU think white people don’t belong here. Way to be just as racist.

White people are “racist fucks”, eh. All of em??

Yeah, we know, back in the day English expansionists were heartless bastards. Despite that frustrating aspect of the past, nowadays, Canada belongs to anyone who needs to come here and who can contribute to the society. The actions of people of certain nationalities in the past should not be used to judge someone numerous generations later.

Why am I even trying to make a point for you, Jesus…

  3. Seriously Cagnook … spend more than half your response on that …
He said it to make a point. I don’t think (I would hope) that he doesn’t feel that way on the 24/7.

Anyway, to be quite honest, when I see the ladies all covered up with just eyes showing, sometimes I wonder how they feel. How it must feel to have to cover oneself everyday. Do I ever voice that? Do I ever ask them? No, because frankly it’s not my place to do so. We can wear whatever we wish to wear and so can the Muslim people, religious choice or not.

I mean some people have mullets and hunting jackets … do I ever stop them and lambaste them for their terrible fashion sense … no, although I should.

There was a lady I knew who was going to Africa to help get rid of all the VooDoo happening there … She was going on some sort of mission to “help” the people. Old bats, that’s all they are. They’ll wear their age and hate on their fcae and you can see them coming from a mile away.

    Good on you op.

  4. and you would know a terrorist by what. walking around in an armani suit? o.p., give it up, as long as the bush regime has it’s ugly head up everyone’s ass, there will be people like that talking shit.although i don’t agree to burkas and ashit like that in banks and such, it is there business what they wear. but it is a good mask for all kinds of shit too. religeous, i don’t think so, custom more than anything. what about the jewish yamokas on the head, or the hindi cerimonial daggers. do you actually feel comfortable there too. but as the saying goes,”when in rome”.

  5. Life Sucks – Hindi ceremonial daggers?? Please. First, the ceremonial dagger is part of Sikh religious practice, not HINDU religious practice. Second, its Hindu RELIGION and Hindi LANGUAGE.

  6. Life sucks – You dont really give a crap about those little distinctions, do you? It is all the same, I guess, to you – this generic dangerous faceless lot with their incomprehensible ceremonial mumbo-jumbo. No surprises there though – not after you see a person with a PhD in social science yowling about how women in niqabs are apt to blow buildings up and said person wouldnt care to ride the elevator with one of them in the building. Oh well.

  7. I don’t agree with burkas and niqabs. I think they are dehumanizing. They take women and reduce them to nothing more than female, without individuality. They lose their dignity because they are wrapped up in folds of cloth meant to protect their dignity. It is ironic and sad.

I don’t care if they are part of a religion. I disagree with that part. I will disagree with a religion, or parts thereof, if I find it to be distasteful or offensive.

Finally, I think that this bitch is a troll meant to incite hatred. It’s completely fake.

  8. I’m with Ivan and Pav – this is obviously a bitch to stir up shit.

I hate burkas – it reduces women to subservient objects of a bunch of religious asstards and the Western World, like France, should forbid its use. Still, that is no excuse for violence.

  9. what the hell is your problem there, farrendahl? big deal, i made a simple mistake about one little fucking thing. and then you come on, spewing your bullshit about how i don’t give a crap about whatever. you are a fool and give immigrants a bad name. if they want to come here fine, accept the ciustoms of the land, as we do when we go to any other country. it is called common fucking curtisy(?). but then you have the fools that want to try and push their ways down my and anyone else’s throat.
i have no problem with indian, german, mongolian, or even fucking martians, coming to this country. so don’t go trying to put me down, for not being up on a little bit of custom of some other country. have i been there? no, i have not, but have been all over this fucking planet. just a side note, if you want to dress in a certain way, be prepared for those that aren’t happy with it. anyone who wishes to dress with a dagger for a religeous reason, fine, then i should be able to walk the fucking streets nude, because i worship the sun. get the drift up there in your ivory tower bud.

  10. And OP is laughing their arse off – as George W said “mission accomplished” – the LTWWB’ers are devouring their young.

  11. I’m with TTFN on this one. A headscarf is a fashion statement – fine and dandy. I don’t need to validate the cultural/religious mumbo jumbo that goes with it in order to accept it. Anymore than I need to accept the fact that a cult of Child Molesting Zombie Worshipers just elevated a Quebec conman to their pantheon of minor deities.
It’s a free country – fill your boots. Just stay the fuck off my doorstep and keep your grotty maulers off my kids (if I had any >: ).

But masks bother me on a whole bunch of levels and if that makes me a bigot I really don’t give a toss. Unless of course, it’s Halloween *cackle*

  12. I saw a woman during the heat wave completely covered with black, drapey cloth and then a black coat and sweater over it…and she had both hoods up from the sweater and coat. I felt so bad for her as I was drenched with sweat in my light, flowy dress :(. But it’s really not our place to say or do anything about things like that because some women like to wear them and it’s just not our business. This is Canada, you can pretty much do what you want here. And correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t burkas a traditional thing, not religious? Although I guess it’s hard/frowned upon not to be religious in a country with a marjority of muslim people.

  13. France just changed the laws on burkas, etc in public. So did Australia. Canada still allows it, even when given testimony in Court. So next time you have to testify, make sure you throw on a burka.

  14. I don’t care who wears what as long as their bits are covered, however, one thing I don’t agree with is the fuss over not letting women with covered faces vote unless they show their face.

If I have to provide photo ID and have that compared to my face, so should everyone else. I think this should apply to any situation where photo id is required such as at a bar, for instance.

Photo identification in certain situations are used for a reason.

  15. Add testifying in court to the list. Or at least they should have to show their face while being sworn in.

If I was testifying I certainly wouldn’t be allowed to cover my face with a mask — for good reason: to prove it’s the person it’s supposed to be.

  16. There’s a big difference in making a mistake in terminology on the internet and making a mistake in who you’re killing in real life.

  17. Well it would be rude in the extreme to stop someone on the street and harangue them over an article of clothing, whether we’re talking about the niqāb (veil) or a seal skin fur coat.

I think various jurisdictions are headed down the wrong road in passing legislation aimed at banning the ḥijāb (head covering) and the niqāb. It kind of invalidates the whole concept of religious freedom, one of the many freedoms that we in Western countries claim as part of our democratic heritage.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that religious practices should trump secular civil law because I don’t believe they should, but at the same time I’m not sure where to draw the line between the religious and the secular spheres in our society. I’m an atheist and true to the creed(!!) followed by most atheists I know, I am willing to ‘live and let live’, a position that many in the various religious communities, moderates and extremists, seem to have trouble with.

Having said all that, I think the bitch was posted to express a point of view, but I have trouble believing that the events described here actually happened.

    I’m going with fake bitch.

    Next!!

  18. Anybody know what the provincial regulations are for driving with the full face mask? I’ve seen footage of British moslem females driving with just their eyes showing, which seems to me a classic case of cultural sensitivity trumping common sense.

  19. Thanks, Donkey, you hit the nail on the head.

TTFN and Sucks: two thumbs up. LS I’m liking your posts a little more everyday, dude. Sometimes it’s a bit confusing to read but there is often wisdom and a message in your posts.

  20. I think everybody is entitled to wear what they want, except in situations like PK has mentioned.

  21. Fake or real, I could generally commiserate with the general theme of this bitch until “… Oh yeah and that veiled lady she was GORGEOUS covered but way much better than most of girls on the street .. ” Fuck you, OB.

  22. It’s all fine and dandy to say people can wear what they want to wear, but do these women really, truly have a choice? They live in a certain social sphere and the pressure is on them to wear these garments from that sphere. I don’t call that a choice.

The whole idea of what those clothes stand for is disgusting. The oppression of women, their identities, and their sexuality are what these garments stand for, not some kind of “free religious choice”.

I still think the bitch is a fake though.

  23. “Fake or real, I could generally commiserate with the general theme of this bitch until “… Oh yeah and that veiled lady she was GORGEOUS covered but way much better than most of girls on the street .. ” Fuck you, OB”

That’s just the North American women are “damaged/ugly/stupid/terrible goods” theme rearing its ugly head again. And another reason why I thought this bitch was fake.

  24. I have to say it, and I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I really disagree with the amount of full-on niqabs (covering all but a slit for the eyes) that I see at my university. What really ticks me off is these women are nearly always escorted by some guy who is most likely related, and he’s wearing regular Western clothing and no beard (which is apparently a rule for men in Islam).
It really rubs me the wrong way, no matter how liberal I try to be about it.

  25. actually these so called garments are tribal in nature and have evolved into religious garments…there has been some confusion over this fact, but the only way i see it,is that because they are deemed religious garments, then men can attain power over women..its thats simple.

  26. And, folks, Muslim women do choose to wear a burka or hijab. Did it ever occur to you that if/when they come here that they’re free to do whatever but still *choose* to wear it? There’s a reason.

LS I really liked your point about the Judenhud/yamalke also. Racist pricks talk about being able to hide a bomb under a burka but you can do the same with a little Jew hat.

  27. You come to Canada UNCOVER YOUR FACE.
IMO that should be the LAW.

You don’t like that about Canada ….THere are hundreds of other countries you can go to instead. Bye- Bye have a safe trip.

I’m a Canadian & I think of myself as a Canadian, I work here, I pay my taxes , I vote ,I volunter & for the most part I obey the laws of the land…I certainly don’t hurt others or do things that could purposely harm others. When I am in public my ugly mug is there for all to see.

If you come here, you should have to do the same, if you are unprepared or adament that you won’t do that , then you should be sent back to where ever it is you came from.

No laws or regulations should have to be changed because of some outdated dress code from the 13th century.
Anyone who is a Canadian & doesn’t agree with that, send them to a Muslim country & let them get a taste of their so called rights over there !

  28. could be a fake trickster bitch*burp* don’t cur. i have done some research on this subject. the only people i tend to listen to are women who MUST wear them. a thousand splendid suns, tho it’s fiction is a great read. i am more concerned with the changing of our laws, to read “honour killings” . burquas are much different than a simple head scarve

  29. I have seen this and more my whole life in this awful little place. Halifax is filled with some of the most hateful, ultra conservative, mean spirited people ever. THIS is why young people leave!!! Because this place is so effing backward and disgusting. It’s all over: in our work places, our laws, our culture. Love the way we Live??????? We should be kicked out of Canada. And the Federal gov funds this shi*t???? Hey, but we are so cute, and adorable, and home grown. AND NICE. Yeah, Like Tim McVey maybe.

  30. I don’t agree with the concept of covering women up for religious reasons either… I find it sexist. But I’m not going to go around personally judging women of that religion. Just remember there’s sexism in a lot of other religions too. Pro female circumcision, anti divorce, anti contraception, anti abortion, and anti ordination of women can all be considered sexist…

The most sexist thing I ever heard was from my crazy Sunday School teacher. I asked him why I could never become a preist, and he told me that since Eve was the first one to bite the apple, the banishment from Eden was our collective fault as women and as punishment we had to suffer pain in childbirth and so on. When I argued that our parish recognized Genesis as a symbolic story and therefore its literal events shouldn’t determine our actual beliefs, he paused and then said, “In that case it must be because women menstrate and therefore are not clean enough to stand behind the altar”. An argument naturally ensued and I ended up being kicked out of the room. The next week he informed me in front of the entire class that he had scheduled a confession time for me so that I could confess and repent for my “bad attitude”. Instead I used the confession time to tell the preist exactly what the asshole had said in class, and after the preist talked to a couple of other kids confirming my story, he found us a new Sunday School teacher.

And after all of that I still never got a straight answer to my question. Oh well, I’m an athiest now.

  31. Snoop, lots of lady Ministers in the UCC & other Churches.

Original sin…bullshit, it wasn’t punshiment, it was the cost of becoming intelligent, and Eve paid it. I’ll stop now before I really get going.

  32. “I have seen this and more my whole life in this awful little place. Halifax is filled with some of the most hateful, ultra conservative, mean spirited people ever. Young people mostly leave because of the lack of jobs and high cost of living, not because of meanies. Halifax is pretty liberal and tolerant compared to alot of places. We are backward in alot of ways, like the “save the view” and heritage trust extremists and their luddite mistrust of anything that doesn’t resemble a castle.

  33. “if all arabs would give up their weapons there would be peace.if all jews gave up their weapons there would be no Isreal”

Spoken like a true, uneducated redneck coward. It’s rewarding to know you’re beneath me.

  34. Hugo, I know lots of other faiths under the umbrella of Christianity do ordain women, and That’s great… I think I forgot to mention that my church was Roman Catholic. At the that there were no female Roman Catholic Priests in existence. Although a mere 100ish women worldwide have been ordained as Roman Catholic Priests in the last ten years, they are not recognized by the Vatican who threatened to excommunicate most of them.

And to clarify, my church did not teach original sin and all that bullshit, it was just this one crazy guy who somehow got to teach Sunday School. My church was as liberal as Roman Catholic Churches can get… not very, but more than most.

  35. Where to start? I guess I’ll just stick with the obvious: You are stupid enough to believe that “They don’t give a shit watching us wearing mini skirts…”etc. Yes, you unbelievable idiot, they do care. That’s why extremists keep trying to blow people up. By the way, it’s not a fashion statement – it is subjugation of the worst kind. Instead of defending her, you might have tried informing her that it’s 2010 and women have {mostly} equal rights and don’t have to be ashamed anymore.

  36. The people bitching about burqas DO realize that this is a free country, right? It’s only as ‘dehumanizing’ as the person wearing it feels about it.

  37. Unless it is for identifcation purposes, who gives a flying fuck what one wears on their face. For identifation purposes, it’s a matter of removing the veil compare the face to the photo and veil back on. A procedure that shouldn’t take more than a minute at most. Don’t say it’s to prevent crimes because “Canadians” who pull off crimes usually try to hide their faces either with panyhose or ski masks. Maybe we should ban those too.

  38. “Where to start? I guess I’ll just stick with the obvious: You are stupid enough to believe that “They don’t give a shit watching us wearing mini skirts…”etc. Yes, you unbelievable idiot, they do care. That’s why extremists keep trying to blow people up.”

Speaking of ‘the obvious: yes, you fucking Moron, that’s why they’re called EXTREMISTS. If that was the statis quo it would’t be ‘extreme’ anymore. If you want to talk about living in the 21st century, maybe you should try not taking the bulk of your religious comprehension from right-wing media. Or better yet, develop some common sense a d comprehend the basic notion of not assuming that a religion comprised of a billion individuals is going to take the same wholly universal stance

  39. Agree with Mentats and Bro Tim. It’s not the place of our gov’t to legislate what people wear, and I hope the situation never becomes otherwise. While I realize that there are some who hold their opinions based on their concerns for women’s rights and just genuine misunderstanding/misinformation about the tradition and belief behind the wearing of the veil, I think a lot of people use this issue as an outlet to express deeper Islamophobic sentiments. The reasons for women wearing the veil, the types of veil being worn, and the status of the women who are veiled are many and widely varied. To make blanket statements about women being oppressed by wearing the veil is to ignore or dismiss a large population of muslim women who have freely and actively chosen to wear the veil. It’s interesting to note, the OP in his made-up story merely said ‘veil’, which could mean anything from a simple headscarf to a full-on burqa, but many commenters have chosen to assume that it was indeed a burqa or niqab-esque garment, because that’s what has been the most sensationalized.
