Why do so many musicians in cover bands around here think they are rock Gods when nobody from the general public knows who the fuck they are, act like your best friend one second and then turn on you when they can’t control you, and make a habit of cheating on their partners with women one quarter their age and expect a happily married man to do the same?? I’m definitely not saying all but many of the losers I’ve met and played with are a total waste of time….fuck the covers scene and skeezy bars , .time to
Focus on real artistry meaning original music…

I played in a blues cover band years ago. It was fun but the other guys did take it way too serious. Mind you, they weren’t out banging young ones. It was humorous watching them on stage thinking they were SRV. I should have figured it out the first time I jammed with them and they mentioned touring Europe!
so, you were the opposite of gruntled?
time for new friends?
I find this funny too. I like a band to work hard at what they do, even if it’s just covers, but the attitude has to go. At the end of the day they are just playing someone else’s music and then go home to their accountant or courier jobs.
what did john lennon say? it’s all music man. and there is no club rule that says you have to play it according to your lofty standards, or behave according to your purist rules.
anyone sitting on a stump with a piece of rolling paper over a greasy comb has the right to play music. even olive green leisure suited lounge lizards have the right to play music.
some old fat broad in the shower has the right to belt out missionary man if she wants to (not that i am confessing to that of course)
you snoot.
Good luck with your “real artistry”. We’ll be looking forward to your performance at the Junos next year, if they aren’t too main-stream for ya!
Wow, mod dropped the ball on this one…
Not very good pr for the joints they *explicitly mentioned*
Sounds like Jagger is alive and well.
Yours truly
I’ve played in the cover bar scene every weekend for a number of years and do well at it and have meet both sides of the coin when it comes to unfaithful people but dont think for one minute that when you go to do “real artistry” and play original music that you will not meet unfaithful musicians and play non sleazy bars because those people and venues are everywhere in Halifax and the world.
Also I’ve also meet my gf in one if those “sleazy cover bars” and we have been together for over 5 years now. Also I met future best friends (musicians & patrons a like) playing the cover bar scene.
Sounds like you need better friends and like all professions, there’s good and bad people.
