I know not every bicyclist obeys the rules of the road, just like motorists. However, I just recently moved away from Halifax to my hometown in Ontario, and let me say, your bicycle bitches could be wayyyyyyy worse. since moving home, I’m baffled by the bicyclists here. Only a handful wear helmets. Many ride on the sidewalk in heavy foot traffic areas. Many ride against traffic instead of with it. I’ve only seen a few actually use their hand signals. It’s all soooo wrong that it makes me see bicyclists in HRM in a new light, and guess what?? It’s not that bad!!! —Pick your battles!

You can’t compare a city to a small town. Compared to every Major Canadian City that I’ve seen, being Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, Halifax has a long way to go. What OP describes sounds like a lot of towns in NS and other provinces, but it’s not really an apples to apples comparrison unles OP’s town is similar to Halifax in terms or size and traffic etc.
Where in ON did you move? I’m looking to move back soon.
Kudos
I’m in Ontario (No offense, but not by choice), and the cyclists here are terrible. The ones that stick to the roads arn’t too bad, but they are rare. I also find motorists here to be extremely rude for the most part.
