Taking the bus is a reality for lots of people in this city. But do we have to sit almost on top of each other?! I’ve taken transit in Mexico, the US and France and I’ve never been as close to my fellow passengers as I am on Metro Transit. Even on a subway in France, with standing room only, people are cognizant to try and avoid toughing each other. Here I get a weird look if I try to scoot out of the way of the 300lb lady trying to squeeze in between me and the guy a seat away. I don’t want to cuddle at 6am and I don’t want your cigarette smell on me for the remainder of the day. Is a centimeter of personal space too much to ask? —personal space pls

Buy a car?
I’d feel safer hanging off the roof rack of a speeding Mexican bus screaming up a cliffside goat trail than ride on the #52, the bus that smells like ripened skid marks & Axe cologne.
Could be worse. I’m from a small town where people usually get into the front passenger seat of a cab and chat with the driver. Years ago, when I first moved to Halifax, I got in the front seat of a cab one day. First off, the driver was a woman who reeked of cigarettes (drivers smoked in their cars between calls back then). Then, part way through the drive she cracked a joke, laughed, and reached over and touched my leg briefly. It was just a little too familiar. I don’t think I ever got in the front seat of a cab ever again.
DON’T go to To. You’ll never survive the TTC.
There are no bad touches in my books.
Oceanchick, did you ever meet the TTC’s “Zanta”?
Nukka, how about an obese or even thin person who doesn’t get the concept of personal hygiene.
Are they single?
I’m single. But only if you have a penis…
I thought they traveled with poultry on Mexican buses. You get a ride and breakfast at the same time.
