I’m not a cop, and I never will be. But what’s with all the police related bitches? If I had a quarter for everytime I heard “he took him to the ground for no reason!”… Cops have a job to do. A job that most of you don’t understand because you work at a coffee shop. They need to ensure their safety and the safety of everyone around them. Your friend may be a harmless organic hippie, but how do the cops know he isn’t carrying a 6 inch knife on him? What do you think would happen if cops trusted civilians as much as you all seem to want them to?

We all make mistakes, cops included. And I’ll never deny the fact that we have some dick head police officers in HRM. But for the most part these are good guys and gals just doing their jobs. They have wives, husbands and children and quite frankly coming home safe at the end of the day is a hell of a lot more important than your friend’s opinion on how they handled a situation.

On top of that, for those of you who bitch that you or your friends got “restrained” or however you want to phrase it… I never hear anyone mention that they broke a bone, or even twisted an ankle… It’s one thing if a cop beats you senseless, it’s another if they perform a proper take down resulting in no injuries to you or the officer.

What I’m trying to say is shut the fuck up. 99% of you who bitch about cops would be an absolutely terrible one yourself. —You Probably Deserved It

  1. I may come under flack for this, but good bitch… I completely agree with you OP. These men and women do have a job to do, people are so quick to make assumptions about a situation they are witnessing without knowing all the facts. I’m sick of hearing people paint police officers with one big brush. I’ve been in situations that required the police and I’m damn glad that they were there, they handled the situations with tact and professionalism.

  2. Meh, I can assure you that most of the people on this site, me included, do NOT work at a coffee shop. I have never been arrested, therefore no mistreatment for me at all, but I will say I have seen many instances of abuse.

I have seen this on many occasions, a police officer “helping” a handcuffed person into the backseat of a cop car, intentionally smacking the suspects head on the roof. Is that called for, after the poor guy is in cuffs? This is just one small thing I have witnessed many times, a cop just being a dick, because he or she can.

  3. “A job that most of you don’t understand because you work at a coffee shop” Go fuck yourself OP are you saying that anyone working at a coffee shop couldn’t fatham what a cops job is? You must be married to a cop!

There are cops out there that are power trippers that like to use their authority over others, some that just go looking for a reason. Just like there are good cops out there.

Cops are people too and can be assholes like the rest of the population.
No doubt they are doing a job like everyone else, even people working at coffee shops but that doesn’t make them anymore smart or better or anymore law-abiding then anyone else.

So ask yourself why are people complaining….they may just have a good reason you where not there to witness.

EVERYONE has family, children and friends they want to see at the end of the day. They also want to make sure they are being treated fairly and not being bullied but our own police system.

Sometimes there is more to the story….

  4. Here here OB. Excellent bitch. Anyone who gets in trouble with the cops obviously did so for doing something illegal. Cops don’t target innocent people. Three cheers for HRM’s finest.

  5. Personally, I can only begin to imagine the stress of being a cop. The vast majority of their work is comprised of dealing with the dredges of society; day in, day out. Small, petty, infuriating issue after small, petty, infuriating issue! I’m not excusing unreasonable aggression, and I realize that there are plenty of cops who got into it less for helping people than for the sense of power and authority, but overall, I can see how the stress would cause some personality problems over time. I doubt I could ever be a cop and manage to keep it all in a healthy perspective.
I’m sure those days when you really feel you’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life are few and far between.

  6. Details SHITD, details. Do you follow the police around and observed these many occasions or are you confusing it with TV shows?

How many arrests have the other bitchers observed say in the last five years? I think I’ve see three and I’m all over the city at all hours.

  7. i’m not a cop either(anymore that is). but i understand their behavior and their take down tactics. some of the worst trouble comes from domestic violence cases. you just never which way one party will go, when you attempt to place under arrest, the other party.
i have seen guys get whacked in the head, balls, guts, yu name it, and with a variety of everyday items, turned weapons. it’s a hard life, and an equally hard call, day to day. when and where to use extra force, and how much to use.
you get a skinny kid, it will sometimes take 3 or more burly cops to restrain them. they squirm like a fucking snake, and are very har to hold unto. females are the worst, because if you have to grab, you gotta watch where your hands are,or lawsuit.
i would never, ever be a cop again. i spent a very short time in the t.o., force, and it was enough to last me a lifetime. was i scared,no. just didn’t think it was what i wanted, so then i decided to study case law and child protective services. and i’m sorry today, that i did not finish either.yeah, i’m rambling, but what the fuck else is new.anyway, the boys in blue have a very tough fucking job to do, so help them anyway you can, if asked by them. and if you ren’t breaking some law, you have nothing to worry about. they have better things to do, than harass your sorry fucking asses.

  8. That tired old defense of details bores me. It happened outside *groan* the palace to a friend of mine with me in attendance. He was trying to break up a fight, was put in a full Nelson and wrestled to the ground by a police officer that grabbed him before he identified himself, he was shoved to the ground handcuffed and “thrown” into a cop car, which the cop shoved him while he was struggling to get into, handcuffed and drunk. It was about 15 years ago and I have since forgotten what the specific date was. I have seem this happen in Alberta, Calgary to be exact, and once more in front of the argyle.

What the fuck is it with cops and your stupid “blue wall” mentality? Isn’t it plausible that someone may have witnessed some of you being dicks? You are for the most part in the public eye, it is conceivable that some of you take things too far sometimes, especially when there are swarms of you feeding off each others dickery.

  9. They have a tough job to do yes, I don’t think anyone disputes that, but when they fuck up they’re not held accountable. That’s what pisses people off, and that’s what exacerbates the problem.

Someone has to police the police.

  10. So the police are called and see people fighting and or breaking it up. Well the first thing they are going to do is separate everyone and a full nelson is one method. Add to it your friend was drunk and struggling and when being put in the car he hit his head.

Do some cops use excessive force, yes. I’ve made a fool of some cops in various cases and they are not perfect. Most people usually see only a small portion of any arrest as they drive or walk by and therefore do not see the full picture.

  11. in my dealings with police, civilian and military, i’ve only had to deal with one bad’un

  12. Aaaand I love it when the bitchers miss the mark (coffee shop indeed… yes the OP was singling you out ONLY… *facepalm*) Oy…. children…

  13. soo, you wrote this, ya know missy it would be easier for me, if you signed your name^^i forgive you cause you sent me wee beast pictures

  14. Assuming all cops are perfect angels is just as dumb as when people say “fuck all police” and hate all of them. I’ve dealt with friendly professional cops in Halifax, and also dealt with others where I was frankly embarrassed for them because they were making asses of themselves.

  15. No, it wasn’t me… I was just pointing out how in an entire bitch people jumped on the toss off line and missed the Zeitgeist…

    More pics to come… arooo!

  16. saweet, she looks like she’s listening intently. i just figure if your a regular bitch, you should sign your name, in some fashion or t’other

  17. If this was my bitch… yeah I would have come right out and said: Hey! Heeeeey!!!!! It’s me! Rosie! Piss of if ya don’t like what I say!!!!! Hee hee!

  18. and on the subject of cops, i have a few of them in my building right now. have been here for a couple of hours. think someone died of un-natural causes.
but they aren’t saying much right yet. paddy wagon, prowl car, and superviser car, here right now. ought to be an interesting night. think it might be tied to older lady taken in ambulance yesterday. but i heard one cop saying deceased, so someone is dead. no tape yet or anything like that. will keep posted, suckster out.

  19. Good post OP, I spent a night or 5 in various local drunk tanks and only got what I deserved.

  20. “Anyone who gets in trouble with the cops obviously did so for doing something illegal.”

    Like sodomy?

  21. I’ve seen cops show up at huge fights outside of bars and just sit around doing nothing. When someone asked if they were going to do anything the cops said it was the bouncers’ job instead.

  22. AGREE 110% WITH TOMMY.

The police (that may or may not be associated with a city that may or may not be halifax) often do what they please.

I had my own little experience with the coppers (certain bitchers know what I”m talking about), and it wasn’t due to any law violations and the way it was handled was disturbing. I was literally skeezed out for a good two weeks afterward… I actually felt violated. The lack of ethics on the part of the police staff (I won’t say what kind of police staff, but let’s just say they were acting officers of some sort) at some points really scares me.

Honestly, it’s people like the OB, who think the cops can do no wrong, who are so naive and thick headed that they need a good punch in the head to wake them the fuck up.

  23. “I doubt I could ever be a cop and manage to keep it all in a healthy perspective.”

You could ask/demand pampers as bribes instead of having to steal them. 🙂

  24. Nah. She’d never pass the polygraph, Donarious. You actually have to tell the truth, and she still denies any wrong doing in Pamper-gate.

  25. well, they are all gone gone. seems the older lady who lived there, fell a few times in last couple of weeks, and she was taken yesterday in ambulance, and they let her come home. she died in the apartment, and they were there with her son, who also lived there.too bad, nice old lay, although i only met her a few times.
and now back to your origionally scheduled bitch.

  26. I agree with you OP. Cops have six months-1 year of training at BEST and people expect them to have the skills of Chuck Norris and the enlightenment of Ghandi.

I will say what i’ve said for YEARS. Cops should be trained martial artists. Until that day comes, cut the fuckers some slack.

I’ve traveled extensively. Cops here are NOT corrupt compared to some places i’ve been (i have been forced to allow a police to take my photo only to make off with my camera after in broad daylight. THAT’S bullshit)

  27. PK I don’t think the OP is saying they can do no wrong, more that they’re under-qualified, under-staffed, overworked and our expectations of their skills, abilities and risk assessment is far too unrealistic.

This is an issue of the qualifications of becoming a cop. Unfortunately we can’t spent 10+ years training martial artists to do the job. We needs cops coming in as old ones retire.

I notice people often put a very high set of expectations on the heads of individuals because of their job. Way higher than any of us could ever meet ourselves.

If a cop is being a dick, the guy is a dick. That doesn’t mean COPS are dicks. It means that guy, who also happens to be a cop is a dick. At least in canada that’s what it means.. most countries are not so lucky.

  28. Police officers continue training and take courses throughout their career. Further ching-ching beats martial arts.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anEuw8F8cpE

Of course he’s using a revolver and not a semi-automatic (where the ching-ching comes from when the slide is activated).

As for dicks and expectations, IK you are correct. Everybody works or knows a dick who isn’t a cop.

  29. When I was in high school I witnessed a fight outside involving one teen about my age at the time (17) and three or four cops. These four, highly trained officers all had difficulty – as a group – taking this dude down, holding him and arresting him. No joke, it took a good 10 minutes from start to finish before they had him in cuffs with three guys on his back holding him down.

The sight and sounds of 200 teens laughing and cheering on the guy must have really been a piss off as one of the officers, panting away, pulls pepper spray out and points it at the crowd yelling, “GET THE FUCK BACK!” The crowd actually was back a much reasonable distance. The threat only got more laughs.

Don’t forget that incident a few years back when like six HRPD couldn’t even capture one naked dude in Parade Square and had to use a taser to even take him down.

BT, you don’t know much about martial arts from the sounds of it. BJJ is much more effective than pressure points training and krav maga.

  30. LMAO…Greased-up naked deaf guy….I’d love to spend just 1 day inside Seth MacFarlane’s head.
“Yor nevah gonna catch me. See y’all next yee-ah”

  31. You just demonstrated how and why cops are lazy cowards, Ivan. Bravo.

Six cops, one naked guy, no lives being threatened = a must to tazer the guy because he’s making HRPD look like fools.

PK: remember the HRPD spokesperson getting pissed off at me in class back in 2008 for disagreeing with her?

  32. Did you threaten to call Anne Oilrig and have the police officer charged with a hate crime for not agreeing with you?

  33. Jokes on you; it wasn’t a cop! Just some spokesperson who lies like the rest of them do.

Did ask for some tuition back though even though I didn’t pay any of it.

  34. You didn’t disagree with her! That’s the thing — you just asked her questions about a topic that was HER JOB to discuss and she got pissed off because you didn’t suck her arse like the rest of the PR-douche tools we went to school with.

  35. Civil disobedience. I’m sure that little mish-mash got me a profile or at least a background search when she got back to the office.

  36. okay to all the fool-aid and kool-aid drinkers…our popo DO abuse innocent folks and do often abuse their unmonitored power and authority and are the army for the state and sociopaths DO pass the MMPI they all take to become our coppers…

  37. Yeah, I think police have a very difficult job. People tend to remember the negatives, any mistakes the police have made. I’m sure some are on a power trip that might come with the uniform, others might be nervous in confrontational situations and overcompensate with a tad too much aggression.
Other than traffic violations I have not had any problems with the boys and girls in blue. I know from personal experience that most people who do not care for the police have a problem with authority. They didn’t like their teachers and don’t like their bosses. Others are egotists who really think they are better than most and have a visceral dislike of the law being applied evenly.
I’m not saying the cops are always right, nobody is. In Tommy Jules’ case they were very much in the wrong and if they do abuse their power or screw up, they should be held accountable. Just like any other occupation. As well, the police should be working towards far more transparency when it comes to self-policing.
Of course, I have dealt with the RCMP far more than HRM cops being as I live out in the boonies. All I can say is that the cops that I have dealt with have been pleasant and professional.
