I’ve just returned from an epic road trip to Alberta and back, and wanted to congratulate Halifax and the rest of this shithole province for having the WORST ROADS IN CANADA. I thought maybe Montreal would have us beat, but it wasn’t even close. HANDS DOWN the most deplorable and undrivable roads and highways I’ve ever seen in Canada, and I’ve done this trip 7 times now. All these recent motorcycle crashes make me wonder what the circumstances really were. It’s not rocket science, create some jobs and fix these fucking roads instead of dropping another 100million in some botched boat or ‘historic building restoration’. —Jack

Jackass! Try travelling on the NB “highway” system. There are more than two provinces….
You must stay in Alberta.
Yeah our roads are pretty shitty here. And the bluenose project is a fucking joke and SHOULD be laughed at and then abandoned. I think it would have been great to restore that boat but the money that’s been sunk into that project, the bureaucratic mix-ups and the squabbling between the contractors to the point of a complete inability to finish their job…enough is enough. Also pumping millions of dollars into restoring the Forum…I feel like it could be done for much less money if the city did some window shopping or something. However, I love the old buildings downtown and I personally hope we keep them. It gives this city character and we need all the help we can get.
Now, all that being said – Alberta has some beautiful natural landscapes and a lot of money (due to a booming oil economy that is known world-wide as the most environmentally destructive operation on the planet) … but the people are just so fucking unbearable – it’s RARE to meet one who isn’t a pompous prick or some ill-informed, proud-of-their-ignorance, U.S.A. wanna be. Fuck Alberta, is what I am saying. Fuck Alberta in its collective asses.
NB highways are in a different category, we’re talking city streets here, and yes, its a fucking embarrassment. I feel like I should have bought a jeep or truck and not a car.
But hey, Convention Centre!
used to be that when you drove across the country you could tell when you crossed into saskatchewan even if you were asleep at the wheel. the road became a nuclear blast zone immediately. and albertas have always been smooth as silk. lovely roads (but no friggin bathrooms on sunday mornings because everything is shut down!) with wide shoulders, grand sweeps and great banking. but they are at them constantly. sask now is rich, so the roads should start to improve. manitobas are awful. ontarios thru the shield is awful. gaspe in quebec are horrid. interior and northern bc are hideous. the alcan is carnival ride. any place that gets frost heaves will need piles of money shovelled in to fix the roads constantly. some of the highways here in nova scotia are lovely. some suck.
ditto what hoist said about the bluenose and the forum. i love the bluenose history but enough is enough.
how much can we donate for you to go back, asshole.
well put hoist http://www.quizlaw.com/blog/images/kiss-me… ^^

Maybe you may want to go on an epic road trip back to Alberta.
I love NS-haters!
“It’s not rocket science, create some jobs and fix these fucking roads instead of dropping another 100million in some botched boat or ‘historic building restoration’.”
^^
Exactly! I will come back home in a heartbeat to be with my family and friends if this backwards, clueless province would get its act together and create new fucking (good) jobs!
PS…and on the off chance that the Halifax dating scene improved, that’ll just be extra incentive for me to say Sayonara Calgary!
Yeah Halifax is not a good place to be if you’re a gold-digger.
C’mon people, open your eyes, our streets ARE in a state of continual disrepair. It IS a fucking embarrassment. Sure, pass it off as NS-Hate all you want, but the sad reality is that our basic infrastructure, something as basic as a smooth road, has gone down the turlet.
Beware successive politicians promising tax cuts – Cons/Gliberals/FewDemocrats – it makes no difference. The only thing they can really tamper with is infrastructure investment; they can’t do squat about the true fiscal sinkhole of public sector trade unions. Then when your concrete is literally crumbling beneath your feet, you pay through the nose for quick fixes, if you’re lucky. This entire country, right down to the municipal level is being run like D.N.D. You can keep harping about the need to “Do more with less” but you can’t stave off rust-out forever.
