Seriously, you needed to damage at least 5 cars the other night in various parking lots around the university? I imagine you probably won’t even get caught. I really didn’t need the couple thousand dollars damage you did to mine. I guess I should be thankful you didn’t beat the windows out like you did to a colleague parked ten minutes away.
So far the count is at five cars, but that is only through Facebook, so who knows how many more were damaged last night. You certainly were stealthy as you managed to damage mine and the one next to mine in about 20 minutes. You went to at least three different parking lots.
The RCMP is frustrating, they don’t take reports for property damage done on the weekend when the culprit is unknown. Apparently the “unit that deals with that is in Mon-Fri, 9-5”. The insurance agency also doesn’t do anything on the weekends either.
What is even the point in taking care of a vehicle if it’s just going to be damaged by someone with too much time on their hands. Foolish me actually takes the time to touch-up rock chips. I guess it’s good I haven’t done it in a while since I will need a new paint job now. It’s not even a new or expensive car, but it’s not a clunker, why did you feel the need to damage it? What did I ever do to you? I’m not even from the area. I parked in the designated conference area, well within the lines etc. Seriously, why my car? Why the elderly ladies and gents cars that you also damaged? —Will Take the Bus Next Time
This article appears in May 26 – Jun 1, 2011.

If I was writing this script it would have been either a “Halting Climate Change” or “Empowering At-Risk Youth” conference. Probably just bored mutants but the university setting just may suggest a bit of political street theatre by eco-fundamentalists. If you do “Take the bus next time” then you’ve handed these little puke-faced gargoyles an easy win. Instead, buy a honking great big American-made S.U.V. that only runs on Tar Sands gasoline and hire some ex-Blackwater security guards to watch over it.
With the $2500 damage they caused I can’t afford to risk it being damaged again. It’s just senseless, as I talk to more people the number of cars damaged is rising.
I imagine part of the reason it is done because the authorities can do nothing about it. At first I thought maybe because it is out of province plates. Then judging from collegue’s cars, they damaged both in and out of province equally.
I am just really upset by it. I was expecting maybe a small ding from someone’s door opening too far or even someone hitting my bumper as they backed up. I was not expecting this amount of damage.
But at least they didn’t smash my windows out. I do like the suggestion to take a gas guzzler next year. Next year I am not taking my vehicle that is for sure.
I’m feeling for ya, Matrix. Hope I didn’t sound too flippant. My folks have had their property targeted and it is infuriating. Grrrrrrrrrr.
someone turned our mini austin over during a jay’s game. some kindly hulks helped us flip it back…no damage. other cars had their windows smashed and tires slashed. it’s only a baseball game ffs
Why can’t people just leave other peoples’ personal property alone? Ugh.
Sorry to hear about this, matrix. Could you run it through comprehensive on your insurance? It sucks you’d have to, but even a $500 deductable is better than 2400. 🙁
don’t get me started on policing these days..shit there’s banks open on sunday now..
time to start getting out the pellet guns, or shotguns, i’ll go with the last. they leave a more interesting impression on the body. but ball bats are good too, if you can get close enough to use them.
Yeah, shooting or stabbing seems to be the latest fashionable thing to do in the HRM lately. Ah, but it wouldn’t work….see, you’d have to be known to the perpetrator and it can’t be a random act. Sorry to get your hopes up.
It took me almost three days to get a police report filed. It happened on Sunday morning, and I called in on Sunday was told there was no one available to take a report, someone woudl call me monday, no call on monday, so I called, there was no one to take a report. Finally I called today and the dispatcher was able to take a report.
Now the count is about a dozen cars. I am able to run it through my insurance now that I have the police report, but the deductible is killer. They scraped it good to get right down to the metal in places.
Although jokingly me and my partner said they could have at least scraped every panel so I could have gotten the whole car repainted, instead of one side.
I’m not impressed by the rcmp. I just wanted someone to take the report so I could have the number that my insurance wanted, took over half a dozen phone calls to get that done. Sure makes a person feel safe.
I really wish I could have caught whoever did it, but realistically they won’t get caught. I hope my car fought back and wrecked their key.
It’s the senselessness that gets to me, I could understand breaking in and stealing something more so than this. Although there isn’t anything to steal outside of an old smelly air fresher.
Sorry Matrix. I don’t mean to make light of your unfortunate situation. It is absolutely despicable the way this person(s) has chosen to act, (political/eco fundamentalists? quelling their boredom? getting their rocks off? who knows?)as you say, just plain senseless. Nothing is sacred anymore. I feel angry for you, that someone would have the gall to do this to you and about a dozen others. I hope they do catch those responsible but I, like you, am not holding my breath. I feel for you and all I can say is karma’s a bitch. Heaven help the person I catch attempting to damage my property…gonna look awful funny trying to pick their bloody chicklets up off the ground with broken fingers.
Conference on Anger Management? Or a frustrated student they can’t afford next year’s tuition?
Check with campus security, are there any cameras about?
Maybe Big Brother was watching.
I’ve been calling campus security and left two messages on to different voice mails but no one has gotten back to me.
I doubt there were cameras in the parking lot, but ya never know.
..careful matrix..they may come to home …and taser your ass…TO DEATH! 🙂
Haha, that sounds like campus police…at least the ones I knew way back 7 years ago..
Looks like it is going to take a week for them to fix the car too, although the damage is a little bit less. It is $2400 to fix. I did notice today they stole one of my deer whistles too..grr.
That seems like a rather odd thing for someone to steal. I suppose stranger things have happened, though.
Maybe THAT’s who damaged your car, Matrix….a rogue band of vigilante deer!! Wearing bandanas and flashing gang signs with their cloven hooves, their jackets probably read something like “Hell’s Venison Denizens” or “The Black Antlers”. They roam around metro terrorizing citizens and destroying vehicles in contempt of their brethren being turned into road-kill. Bastards! Ohh their mean too, uttering clever catch phrases under their snearing, up-turned lips…”The buck stops here!” or “It’s open season, bitches!” Oooo Dammit, I KNEW it!!! It was only a matter of time!

What can I say? Sometimes my twisted sense of humour and over-active imagination gang up on me and win. 😀

Thanks Avast0, I needed a laugh. I’ve been so stressed about the repairs my eye starting twitching, I look like I am winking at everyone I see.
lol…no worries Matrix. I’m glad I could give you a chuckle. Sometimes, it helps. 😉
