Yes, it sucks that the bus drivers went on strike. Transit, aside from my functioning legs, is my primary form of transportation. I don’t own a car. But I support the union (as do many, many other Transit users), for a simple reason: this world of ours is divided into two groups, servants and masters. Over 90% of us are born into the servant class, very few are born masters. The union (servant class guild) is fighting the master (ruling political elites, supported and enabled by socioeconomic elites outside the formal political system). Yet the most vitriolic hatred of unions – which, we should remember, exist because of the greed, unscrupulousness and ruthless evil of the master class – tends to come from members of the servant class. There are lots of psychological explanations for this pathetic phenomenon, but my favourite way to understand it is by way of a metaphor I heard a long time ago.

You see, servant class people are like chicken, and Colonel Sanders is like the master class. Some of the chickens are convinced that Col. Sanders is evil and up to no good. But among the chickens there is a sizable, uninformed group that insists – regardless of the evidence – that Colonel Sanders is good, noble, and treats his chickens well.

Please – before you spout off about how awful unions are, ask yourself: as a chicken, is it really in my best interest to defend Colonel Sanders? —Anti-Authoritarian

  1. Your us vs. them rant was really very inspiring, and I have definitely changed my mind! I will now support unions no matter what, because NOW I have seen the light, as I know they can do no wrong!

Now, seriously, I hear Chavez is “hiring”, I think you’d fit in quite well. Get packin, commie

  2. Cute little metaphor ,Comrade. Read some Orwell, if you like barnyard critters that fucking much.

  3. When the so-called servants become spoiled little brats and demand more from the so-called masters, to the point when it negatively impacts the other so-called servants, I no longer can support them.

  4. I have no problem with unions, just public sector unions. The govt, as an employer has always been forced by their very own legislation to set the bar high for labour standards in all respective divisions (health&safety, salaries, pensions, etc). There is no need to hold the govt (the tax paying public) at ransom for demands that far outweigh their private sector cousins. Private businesses can only give so much before it eats up all their profit, but, with government, it seems there is no amount of money to great to throw at union demands, just to stay the course. Two completely different entities, public and private unions.

  5. I have no problem with greedy fucking government. It’s a priviledge to pay taxes for a non functioning transit system.

  6. What was that again Suckster? Above comment?

Good point Harper and I generally support unions.

  7. Wow that sounded so condescending and pompous! Everyone who dislikes unions is an uninformed peon, according to you. I guess my dad, who was part of a union for 40 years but still goes on about how he hates unions knows nothing ….

  8. This was written by someone who doesn’t know the first thing about what goes on in the world. Sorry OP I can see you are taking a stand for something..and that I think is good. However, you should really know what you’re talking about before making such a stand so you don’t sound so…let’s say uninformed.

  9. can’t remember what it was now, but something about how unions are like assholes.both have shit coming out of them, and the public keeps getting theirs fucked.

  10. Haven’t you heard? The Colonel now no longer uses fat mouth lazy chickens, he using pigeons. And what happened to the chickens? They ended up at Sobeys and Superstore.

  11. 55 grand and a pension for the highly skilled position of driving af fucking bus!! Ya. Unions are definately a neccesity lol. Lets unionize Tims too so we can all pay 10 bucks for that large double double. Moron.

  12. Look how well the Union did in protecting the pensions of the New Page workers, retirees facing a loss of 40% on an under-funded pension plan, no oversight committee?

  13. I pay less for a bus ticket than i do for a coffe and a donut, so maybe we should unionize tim hortons and make sure the workers get paid a better wage.
