To the ever surly deli counter employee at my local grocery store: Stop being so goddamned mean all the time! What’s your problem anyway? I try to be nicer and nicer every time I ask for 100 grams of genoa salami (I even tell you how I’d like it before you bark “SHAVED OR SLICED”) and you still give me the meanest most penetrating stare ever! And it’s not just me: You’re mean to everybody. I see people walk away from the counter cause they don’t wanna talk to you. Why you gotta be so mean lady? If you like to smell meat and cheese all the time, unzip the guys pants and take a deep breath.

so, o.p., next time this person does this, just take the meat, look at it, and say it stinks, just like your fucking personality, and throw it on the floor, then walk away.

You know I kinda had the same dealings with buddy at the local coffee shop, and one day I asked him how his day was going, and the next time asked him something else, and ever since then we have a nice conversation every time I visit. So just give it a try, and see what happens!

koda… i really resent when people say we make no money and have no future… i’m in management, and i make very decent money and have a very bright future with the company… and yes, i could be someone that serves you behind a service counter… so don’t be so judgemental…

@eeeeek ; I’ve worked for one of these stores during high school and continued into my university years…..actually made it to the top-rate on the pay-scale and eventually into the office end of things before completing my education and moving on. ~ the b!tch is about the counter-person who does make a low wage and has no future…….soooooooo,, let’s not make it about you……..and for the record, one persons decent money is another persons worst nightmare. We each have our own goals and aspirations and for me I would never have realized either had I continued working in a retail environment ~ no personal offence intended 😉
Cloggeddrip’s got it right…..I used to almost take it personally when served so disgruntledly….but then I began seeing such situations as opportunities…..no, challenges to see if I could get a smile out of the haggered brow…..it is much easier than I would have imagined. Then we are all better for it.
Try it sometime…..before you become infected as well.
