I am a early twenties female, and because of the transit strike I have to walk home after work, which takes almost an hour, in -10 weather, by myself, at almost midnight.
To the Mayor, and all other city officials involved in letting the strike happen, please connect yourselves back to reality. Think of those who cannot afford to cab home from their minimum wage jobs.
Think of someone like me, I could be your daughter, out walking alone in the cold night. —Brrr

  1. I don’t have to walk home at midnight, thankfully, but from my job to my home is 8km, or about an hour and a half. I’m four months pregnant. My feet are swollen and painful already. I agree with you wholeheartedly, what if you were their daughter- would they want you walking home at midnight? What if I were their wife? Shameful.

  2. i know what you mean. most cases i have to walk i work down on Barrington and walk from Spryfield. I never work late but it still really sucks

  3. IKnowRite…
because everything everyone says on the internetz HAS to be true.

    just like your mugshot there.

  4. well….secret was already leaked out that i work on barrington hen double jeoparady asked if it was me he had seen

  5. I actually had a comment typed up that outlined how easy it is to harvest personal information on this website, but according to zZz…none of you are telling the truth anyway so it doesn’t matter.

That’s some top notch white knighting there zZz.

  6. I think it’s less safe to be a male walking around Halifax. It sucks that you have to walk home so late at night alone, but I don’t think it should matter whether you’re someone:s daughter or son.

  7. little known fact.. I AM a white knight…
but I always wear black socks…
and my trusty miniature horse ‘double skunk’ and I like to ride from town to town hustling the local crib tournaments.

  8. Wouldn’t work for me Petty K.
Seeing as my hate of tomato anything in my booze !
    Which is odd because,
I really love tomato sauce & salsa, tomato soup, fresh tomato’s right off the vine, in my garden first thing in the morning for a toasted tomato & cheese sandwich mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, mmmmmm !
But I just can’t stand tomato & alcohol….& I have no idea why it upsets my guts the way it does ?!?
I suppose I could have a guiness or 3 while you eat some seizures.

  9. guiness, scotch on the rocks, mimosa, tap water or another beverage of your choice. i don’t enjoy vodka and oj unless you throw in some galliano or peach schnapps

  10. Unfortunately, the city’s Officials only care about padding their pockets. Quit your minimum wage job and go on unemployment or welfare. You’ll earn close to the same while staying warm & cozy.

  11. Shameful to see these young ladies having to walk that far. Take SCNHMP, she’s four months pregnant, already has sore and swollen feet plus a cheesy mustache to boot.

  12. Funny…Troodon Formosus. 🙂
I feel for everyone who is now without a way back and forth to work. Hopefully this is over soon!

  13. I know that there are some areas of the city that I don’t like to go late at night. 🙁

If you were my friend I wouldn’t let you be walking home alone late at night. I’d be there with my car to pick you up after work and drive you home.

  14. JESUS!
    first metro transit strikes….
now we won’t even be able to get beer because the brewery’s union is striking!
Those long, cold walks aren’t getting any warmer….
