Rumour has it that local bands get all their friends to make up fake email address after fake email address in order to keep submitting their votes for that band. Now come on, how accurate is this poll anyway? It should be called Coast “how many fake emails can you make up” awards! You need a better system!

This issue has recently been addressed by the tech gurus. I won’t pretend to understand the details, but they assure me that they’ve successfully addressed this concern.
C’mon, its a polularity contest in a non-threatening/important kind of way. I mean, how else could a guy in a comic shop be ‘best retail worker’ or whatever it was in a city of a thousand stores? I mean, be real. I’ve seen some retail stores where they keep a stack of The Coast by the door and every semi-regular customer that comes in is given a copy and told ‘fill this out and help us win’ (more or less). Think about it.
This is a real outrage! hahaha give me a break.I think they changed it so only one vote from one IP address. Now if they were using a different proxy and a different email address I almost think the person deserves to win given the effort put forth to cheat the system.
checking IP address is not fail safe either, eg many offices and even the library provide a lounge to use their computer(s) during breaks. if you based it on IP address, all these legit submissions would be unfairly excluded.cranky’s pointing out that where the Coast is picked up makes sense too. it won’t be the first time some public place tells you to help them get voted. i’ve even recd rock artists emailing me to vote for them during the music awards season.disqualifying multiple entries from one email address is unfair too. many family subscribers use the same email . i know even spouses share the same email address and children too. you tell them they can have their own , but they say it’s more convenient to just have one…daddy’s.p.s.to those getting the unnecessary paragraphs, are you by any chance using firefox? just curious because i am not making paragraphs, and i see i am not the only one getting all paragraphic, lol. just asking. lol as in LOL, not lol 😛
