I was cycling southbound on North Park St next to the Commons on Thursday at 8:45am. I was amazed to watch you drive on the inside lane through the Cornwallis St crosswalk. That the crosswalk had a flashing amber light wasn’t going to slow you down. I know, you were in a rush to drive another 100 meters to get to the red stop light at Cogswell St. At the other 2 southbound lanes, cars were stopped to let the wheelchair cross. No, you didn’t hit him, you missed him by 5 or 10 feet. Did you ever see him? Probably not, because you weren’t looking. When I cycled up beside you at Cogswell, you were punching away at the phone in your lap. I imagine that if you had hit him, you would think how unfair the world is to you. I rapped on your windshield – I told you twice to get off the phone and that you almost ran over somebody in a wheelchair. I didn’t get your license plate number. I wish I had, but you drove off too quick. I went down to the police station about it and asked what to do next time. They want that plate number and told me to call HRP at 490-5020 for Live Action and 490-5016 for After the Fact. At least if I cause an accident using a phone on my bike, it’s most likely my life and not someone else’s. —Old Guy on a Bike

I wonder if this grey car driver is the same one who had a bitch written about them earlier! I believe it was in the same area. That intersection and all of the intersections in that area are the stupidest things I’ve ever seen, and I have seen many stupid things!!
Some people shouldn’t be allowed to drive. Good for you to tell him what he did!
Bike safe.

Those numbers are useful to have, thanks
I was wondering the same thing Mel. Hopefully whomever this is gets reported and stopped before they actually hurt someone.
OB … good for you for at least making an effort to stop this person, and thanks for the numbers … I’ll put them in my contacts right now.
Lesson learned, it’s more important to get a plate number than yelling at the driver.
Can’t wait for the freezing cold temperatures and ice to arrive…..then us drivers will have more road and less moronic cyclists to deal with.
Let’s review: you witnessed this, biked past the vehicle where the lisence plate is clearly visible, tapped on the window, scorned the driver and watched them drive away without getting the plate number again. Well played!!!
