  1. To the parents of this child. How dare you (someone who is supposed to know better) let your child be put in that situation! Your child doesn’t know any better. They are trusting you and trusting that you will make the right choices for them. Damn, do you let them play with pots of boiling water too?!?!

  2. Zoos and aquariums and the like are vile, evil places that hold innocent animals in horrid conditions for our entertainment. Have you ever asked yourself what happens to these wild animals when the zoos etc., close for the season? If not, you should. Wouldn’t our provincial tax dollars be better spent on classroom documentaries about wil d animals (in the wild) and teaching our children how to enjoy the wilderness safely? I am most proud to say that neither of my children have ever visited a zoo or an aquarium and that I worked diligently to put a stop to school visits to any place that held animals in captavitiy) and promoted educational awareness of wildlife and the need for preservation of wild animals and their habitats.

  3. I’ve been told that many of the animals in Shubie have disabilities that prevent them from being in the wild. So would it be better to shoot them? I think not.

  4. There’s a problem with your bitch…It wasn’t the parents that put their kid over the fence to feed the bear. Rather, it was another couple that took the kid and put them over. The parents are still lousy for letting some dicks handle their kids even though they were around the area.

  5. I really don’t think animals give a shit whether they are gawkwed at or not. People only represent possible handouts because so many idiot Shubie patrons ignore the signs. The animals are probably just glad to be alive. Also consider that it’s not like that bear was in a 4×4 cage.

  6. Elbee dearest you’re being unreasonable. Wild animals do NOT belong in enclosures no matter the size. They belong in the wild. Those that are injured and rescued do not deserve to be put on display for your entertainment. They deserve to be cared for properly in a peaceful atmosphere and then release back into the wild. Have you ever seen a polar bear in the dead heat of summer in a zoo pacing back and forth in the summer heat? Does that amuse you? Do you learn anything from it? Sure they try to simulate the arctic in their prisons for the viewers’ to enjoy their entertainment more, but they certainly don’t give a shit about those polar bears or grizzlies or black bears that need acres upon acres to live a full and healthy life. Each person that pays a fee to entertain themselves while these poor animals suffer deserves to be bitch slapped back into the real world. Otters are adorable to watch as they romp and play, but in zoos and aquariums they romp and play in chlorine infested water. If they held them over for a 2nd season (which they don’t), their disease infested bodies would horrify even the most skeptical viewer. Guess what happens to them when the tourist season is over? If you love animals you will not ever pay another dime to a zoo or aquarium or any other venue that holds wild animals in captivity for your entertainment. Teach your children well.

  7. It is because we see them as entertainment that they are even alive. If we thought of them as just wild animals and not cute then they would be hunted to extinction. Like the dodo…That’s why I say kill them all and make them into something tasty…

  8. Oh, fucking shades of PETA and their elevation of animals to human status. Give me a fucking break. Many of these animals are DISABLED and would DIE in their natural habitant. What part of that equation don’t you get? Viewing these animals is educational for kids, including mine. That education does not include feeding them, the whole fucking point of this post. While I agree that animals should not be used in circuses anymore, I do think Shubie Park is doing a great service for these critters and they are not exploited in any way. It’s a shame your kids will only be able to see real animals two dimensionally. Better get out some more bubble wrap.

  9. BJ- where do you get this infomation from? seriously, it sounds as though you may know something about zoos that the general public is not aware of?

  10. Dear Jeanne Through years of research and working with animal rights groups and field studies. What the general public doesn’t know about animals held in captivity would appall them if they found out.Ellbee you assume that my children don’t see animals. I don’t know what brought you to that conclusion. They do, in the wild. Both are avid back country hikers/campers and photographers. What they see would make you green with envy. As for your other point. Sick animals (like sick people) do not need or want to be exploited. I do agree that those animals born in captivity wouldn’t stand a chance in the wild thus they should have not been born in captivity.

  11. Gimpysaviour I like how you think. I have a fabulous recipe for Leopards Pie if you wanna share…

  12. Animals not born in captivity… Good luck with that.Look at it this way.Animals eat each other. We are for all intents and purposes animals. So, when we, the dominate species, use our dominance to rule over the animals.Do you think a lion would give you a hug? Fuck no, they would fuck you up and high five their cousins over a job well done.A zebra would bite you in a heartbeat and strangle you to death.A seal would probably eat out your eyesockets if you arn’t carefull.FUCK THE ANIMALS.Humans first, always. The bears needed to be behind an electric fence and shocked every half hour until they were so doscile that dumb kids could ride on them.Animals only understand shows of force. They know not to fuck with you if they know you can FUCK THEM UP!It’s the law of nature.

  13. To those dumb-ass parents who exposed their child to such danger at the wildlife park, when there was a fence put there for a very specific reason reason: People like you should be spayed and neutered so you won’t endanger any more little children who depend on you!!!! Shame!
