So, it’s 8 degrees today, and everything’s getting pretty melty out there. As I walked by the much-adored Oval, much to my surprise, all of the refrigeration units were still humming away. Now, I’m neither an environmentalist nor an economist, but it seems to me that running all those units to keep an oval-shaped puddle of water chilled is a pretty poor use of both energy and taxpayer dollars, no? Considering the temperature is supposed to be in the pluses all week, I think it’s safe to say you can turn the damn things off now, dummies. Skating season is over. —Not Cool

Does this mean that I should plant my garden now, Mr. Not Cool?
In case you haven’t checked, it’s below zero.
People that can’t see past the obvious piss me off.
Can’t the unit be turned on when it is cold enough to make ice, and turned off when it is not?
I am pretty sure the air inside skating rinks is above zero.
They’ve said that they’re probably going to shut it down sometime this week, so don’t get your panties all up in a bunch, OP.
Ha ha, the poor The Oval sure takes a shit kicking. Did it get ‘saved’ or not?
they decide today….
I hope they get rid of the citadel cock-ring myself…
I’m gonna go with them taking it away but i’m usually misinformed.
Actually, they decided a while ago that they are keeping it open until the 13th but it may be sooner if the weather gets too warm. Unless you want the ice to melt away completely within a day you don’t turn the chilllers off.
Wait until the motor burns out. Hope the city bought the extended warranty.

i do believe thy might be on automatic temp control. and when it gets warmer, they clunk on, and in, to keep ice cool.
but yeah, it’s almost spring now, and they should be shut off, completely.
Can they turn it in to a really wet running track or roller track.
u are not an electrician or engineer either, eh, chump.
…aaaand it’s closed… lol
