I know the Killam Library is a hangout for a lot of people, I get it, but guess what…. some people go there to actually study! And you know the large room on the second floor? That’s a QUIET study area. It has big signs on the walls saying”QUIET” in underlined, BIG RED LETTERS…That means SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!! If you wanna sit and chat with your friends, talk on your cell phone, or giggle across the table at your boyfriend, find another place to do it you inconsiderate, childish assholes! Seriously, if I could come over and whack you in the back of your head with the book you’re obviously not reading, believe me I would…. and so would a lot of other people…. but unlike you, we don’t act like we’re in high school….don’t you idiot s notice people giving you dirty looks? Take a fucking hint and don’t come in that room or SHUT THE FUCK UP when you’re in there!

  1. I totally agree…. I have gone to a few Universities and have found that Dal is the least academic that I have been to. ( I am sure there are worse, however) The Killam is a total joke, its like a fashion show where students get dressed up, cover themselves in perfume just to go and socialize. But seriously, who raised these students? Do they have an ounce of consideration for anyone but themselves? Does anyone exist outside their petty facebook realm? Do they know that University is a privilege and that some people work their fingers to the bone and starve themselves just to afford to get a University education? Do yuppie parents (mostly from Ontario) dump their little shits in Dalhousie just to get 4 years of serenity?Seriously, fellow students, have some FUCKING RESPECT FOR PEOPLE AROUND YOU, don’t talk throughout lectures, don’t check facebook and msn messenger on your brand new imac in lectures, don’t mosey into class 20 minutes late every day with a coffee in your hand and a bagel/muffin in the other and make a racket eating and slurping your shit, don’t talk with outside voices in a god-damned library!!!! Don’t use the library as your own personal runway, don’t ask asinine questions or make idiotic remarks every 10 minutes in class because you love the sound of your own voice, turn your ipods down in quiet areas, and when you are talking in a quiet area and someone gives you the stink eye, its not meant as some funny Larry David stare-down, it really means ‘if there wasn’t a law preventing it, I would come over there and head-butt your fuckin teeth into your skull, shut the fuck up!!!!’And just for the record… I don’t think all Ontario students fall under the category of rich little shits, there are some amazing people from Ontario that go to Dal… but as Dal has a high percentage of Ontario students, inevitably there will be a high percentage of rich little shits. And the fact that it is extremely difficult to fund University and go to a school in a different provence (I did it for two years and found it too hard to afford and came back to Dal) means that the person is either stinkin rich, or they are working unbelievably hard to put them selves through University…people who work that hard for something usually don’t take things for granted and have the maturity to act appropriately in a academic environment. ……… ….And, ever notice how on the February break and summer break all the assholes leave and the city and university breaths a sigh of relief? Surely it’s because the people who can afford to leave the city do so, the ones that are from here, or can’t afford a wonderful vacation stay.Sweeping generalizations I know…. But if University taught me one thing, its the potency of sweeping generalizations! Hope everyone has a safe Feb. Break!!!!

  2. I swear, Janet is a female version of ol’ cranky. “props” to you.But anyway, take a walk down to Robie St. High, its where the locals who are getting edged out of Dal end up and it ain’t pretty(though they try)

  3. Janet, you say a university education is a privilege, and I agree, but I suspect the people you are talking about feel differently. These are the same type of students that complain to their profs about not getting an A and sooking (that’s right, it’s not “sucking”) about having two exams in a row. These students feel entitled to their A because they (or their parent’s) are paying for it. They see their education as yet another commodity, like their iMacs and Uggs and Lululemon pants. Why work for something you already paid for?

  4. I agree with the original post man. I used to work DAL Security and got posted to patrol the Killam most of the time. I’ve never kicked people out of places as much as the Killam. Man I caught people playing cards there! I honestly don’t understand why anyone in the right frame of mind would leave ON or QC or even BC to go to DAL? I will never understand that. I regret every year i went to DAL to do Engineering.
