So, it’s like being touched for the very first time–lugging my fucking groceries home from you, Quinpool Superstore. You super-suck with those ghetto-ass, thin plastic bags you hawk. I’m a damn student who lives more than ten blocks away and no buses go from your location to my place, so walking in the rain on Thursday night, rushing to get home, eat, then get to a long night-shift at work was fun. It was a sexy experience when all but one of my bags tore open, like the capitalist hymens they are, exposing my delectable vittles to the filth of the rainy, leaf/mulch-laden sidewalk on Oxford Street. So, now I’m certainly no longer an inconvenience virgin, you certainly made sure of that! I feel filthy, and a tad pissed the fuck off that by the time I lugged my groceries home–and when my cab didn’t show up–that I didn’t get supper and was late for work. How ’bout you get y’allselves some adequate shopping bags, Superstore?! Or how about you add Quinpool itself to the #1’s route, Metro Transit? The Quinpool Superstore is the closest grocery store to the Dal neighbourhood, but it’s such a bitch to lug things from when you ain’t got no car or time. Were Sobeys closer, I’d be going there from now on. At least my stuff would be safe in their nice, thick sacks. And yeah, I do own one of your ‘enviro bag’ things, but it’s not quite efficient when you need to lug juice and pop and laundry detergent and the like, even with multiple ‘enviro bags’. Stop being so cheap and sleazy, Superstore!

Uh..it’s kind of hard to have an opinion without first reading it.( lol!!1 make no sense don’t it.)
What do you mean you can’t use the “envirobag”? That’s the biggest cop-out I’ve ever heard. I have about a dozen cloth grocery store bags, and I use them for everything. If anything, they make it easier to carry bulky, heavy items because of their wide, comfy cloth handles. It sucks that your groceries got dumped on the ground, and I guess you’re just blowing off steam. But those bags suck because they are made from recycled plastic. And I’ll take the flimsy recycled bags over the sturdy unrecycled ones, thanks.
Atleast you get the bags for free. Those same flimsy plastic bags cost 22 cents each in the UK. It’s a government levy put in place to balance the cost of recycling, which means most people use canvas bags, which is a good thing for the environment…and also for the reason that they dont tear in the rain.
One point here…Sobey’s on Queen is ALOT closer to this supposed DAL neighborhood…didn’t know that DAL students had decided to only live in one neighborhood. It’s great though because then the landlords will only be able to crank up the rents in that one hood rather than everywhere, trying to grab every last penny of student loans they can.
Double or even triple bag your heavier items – and put some money away for a cab every now and again from your pay cheque. And if you walk down Quinpool towards Robie – the 7 takes you quite close to Dal neighbourhoods…like Spring Garden Road??Or shop multiple times a week….I prefer their enviro bags – the handles don’t dig/cut into my hands like the plastic ones do.Or invest into one of those wire carts and place your groceries in that and wheel it. They work quite well.
