What the fuck people!?!?! When will you just accept that Lady in Red is probably the best song ever written? Yes I know, Take my Breath Away is a close second, but I’m tired of debating this with you. For fucks just pour yourself a glass of wine, close your eyes and think about that one moment and that one woman/man you’ll never forget. You were amazing… —Just you and me

  1. In matters of personal taste there can be no debate. 1970’s High School P.T.S.D. gives the nod to “Stairway”. Seven and a half minutes of gym floor full frontal frottage to file away in the old spank bank.
Also popular with late night D.J.s anticipating a particularly long head call.

  2. At first, Bugs Bunny came to mind, dancing and singing and tormenting poor old Elmer Fudd.

Then I remembered that night with OB…

  3. ick and double ick op.

    layla – clapton.
love hurts and makes you scream and roll around in agony, like appendicitis. not that wimpy, simpering dreck.

or maybe paradise by the dashboard light – meatloaf. that’s a good one. esp the last 30 seconds.

“When will you just accept that Lady in Red is probably the best song ever written?” Just You and Me

It would, of course, be incoherent to ask WHY one should accept that Lady in Red, or any other popular song for that matter, is the best song ever written.

That is because theyare little more than exercises in Romanticism, the “philosophy” which boils down to the claim, “The heart has its reasons which reason knows not of.” But the heart doesn’t have any reasons. Therefore, to rate songs as good/better/best is incoherent. As the Latin motto points out: “There’s no disputing matters of taste.” The sad part is that people like the bitcher think they are actually saying something when, of course, they are saying nothing.

But Romanticism is not just mindless innocence. In their glorification of race and anti-democratic violence, Fascism and Nazism trace their roots to 19th. century Romanticism. As the Italian fascist cry went, “Mussolini ha sempre ragione!” (Mussolini is always right!)

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  5. Col. Ivan, that was such an assault on my eyeballs, the pupils have retreated to somewhere near my spleen.

Imagine watching THAT bit of lunacy on acid. It boggles the senses.

  6. I like some of Chris de Berg’s work ….but OB are you sure the that it was 1 man/1 woman …I was pretty sure it was 2 women ….cheek to cheek .

  7. Remember in the 80s when Chris DeBurg would come to Halifax every year, as did Rod Stewart? There was always Strutter at the Misty Moon too. Those were the days.

  8. “Solsbury Hill” is one of the very best songs ever recorded.

I think we can have a rare moment of harmony here on LTWWB, as now I am going to turn up the volume on that very song, and I suggest you all do the same, and we can all hear it resonating throughout Halifax on this bright sunny morning.

    Aaaaaaaahhh! Happiness . . . .

  9. and today I strike a blow against pigs everywhere!!!!
