sneaky, underhanded thoughtless council who re-voted on a closed subject and now there are people losing their homes, their trees, their bit of neighborhood.

it just breaks the heart. On what freaking city model does widening actually work????

sad to see it happen

  1. Yeah cranky… It WAS voted on more than once… Problem is… the first time they voted AGAINST it… When it came time for the re-vote, some of the councillors did not even understand what they were actually voting for… And the FOR vote slipped through…HRM’s action on this one is a travesty of justice…

  2. Nobody is losing their home. Christ, the misinformation about this is incredible. The Ecology Action Center should be ashamed of themselves for using the people of the area in the way they did to forward their own radical agenda.

  3. Bottom line is no matter what happens with the price of gas, cars are still here to stay and since the Armdale rotary became a roundabout, traffic woes along Chebucto have increased. Despite what some tree huggers may think, it’s still important to improve the traffic flow in any city, and with the ever increasing population in Halifax comes an increase in traffic. I do feel bad for the people who live on Chebucto who are affected but from what I understand, they are being justly compensated for any loss in personal property. Maybe some people would be happier if we went back to dirt roads and horse and buggy?

  4. If they wanted to help traffic flow in Halifax, they should’ve just leveled all the houses and put a highway from the rotary to the MacDonald bridge. Whose going to miss them houses anyway?

  5. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. If you’re one of the few in a democracy you’re simply screwed, ask any minority.

  6. 2 things:a) Hey, where the fuck were you fuckers when they widened from rotary up to Euro Pizza? Some trees fell in that op too. Oh right, people in apartment buildings don’t count.b) Grow the fuck up and use your dal urban planning degree to help those idiots on chebucto figure out that buying a house there within the past 20 years would be an idiot move, and anybody that has lived there longer should have enough money saved up to be put in a home by now.

  7. Shame on our mayor and HRM for allowing this travesty! I will not vote for him in the next election!

  8. Cranky… you got it right on.By the way… how much money are each homeowner being compensated with?
