  1. Tip at a buffet? hahahaHOW the tipping system works is not the customer’s problem. It is not the customer’s duty to supplement your income. YOU signed on for this, probably with dollar signs in your eyes as they told you how much you’d probably make in tips a week. Sorry that you planned on people throwing money at you hand over fist. Even sorrier that you feel entitled to it.

  2. Here’s a tip: clearing plates off tables is your JOB. In fact, it is the bare minimum of what you get paid to do- why should I tip you for that as well?!! I’m pretty sure the wage you recieve from your employer would cover your effort of picking chicken balls off the floor and clearing plates off tables! I try not to swear but….fuck off

  3. Buffets, for the most part, attract a specific type of restaurant-goer. If you haven’t looked around and figured that much out you’re probably too stupid to ask for the dishwasher’s position. At least at that job you might get more than min wage and have a stab at progression through the kitchen ranks and the resultant increase in wage. Quit while you’re ahead.

  4. If I’m getting my own food, doesn’t that make you a busboy instead? And I’m pretty sure they didn’t spring that pay arrangement on you like some fantastic surprise.Seriously I’m getting tired of all these tipping bitches. Right now I work in a salon, and nothing drives me more than people who think they can expect a fucking tip. A tip is OPTIONAL. It can suck on face value, but it’s a fact. I get tipped now, I thank profusely. I thank them for getting a service from me in the first place since they could easily trot down the street and get something done somewhere else, and thereby not give me any money.Sometimes I really think servers would benefit from going back to a job where tips are non-existent and all you get is a sense of pride from doing your job and doing it well.

  5. I think the point of their bitch was that when we don’t tip, they still have to pay the restaurant owner a percertage of the sales because the owner is expecting that we tip them. So, it sucks to be the server bcause they can actually be losing money from their own paycheque. The problem herein lies with the restaurant owner charging their employees a percentage on the fact that they MIGHT make some tips. That is just crazy.

  6. I do tip at buffets, but only a dollar a person 99.9% of the time, NOT 15%. The reason why people don’t tip is because you are just about serving yourself for the most part. I feel picking up the dishes doesn’t benefit me, especially on a large table, so I could care less about that, meaning, that’s not part of the service since it’s not something I actually am asking for. First drink, refills, bringing the check, and ringing it up are the ONLY reasons to tip at a buffet, because that’s ALL the servers do for their customers. Picking up dirty dishes honestly is NOT service. I could care less if you take them or not. I am fine with stacking them up. If I don’t get one refill even, I may only leave a buck or a $1.50, because the server just rung up the bill and brought back the change or credit card. Them coming to ask me something is NOT part of the service if it’s not wanted or benefitted from. The buffets that you pay when you walk in the door, less tip should be earned since all the server is doing is bringing drinks, so depending on how many refills will determine how much to leave. I only once left 15% at a buffet, because the server personaly brought me something I requested on the buffet.Cici’s pizza I NEVER tip, because you get EVERY single solitary thing yourself. You pay at the door, you get your refills and first drink yourself, and you get your food yourself. I could care less if they take my plates or not, because they have such large tables there I have plenty of room to stack up the plates that it is not in my way. To me, taking my plates away is NOT at ALL a part of service. I don’t care if they take my dirty plate and put it on another empty table next to mine or if they even take the dirty dishes at all. I only care about what benefits me like refills, the check, etc.
