I just love the cellphone company that has the worst customer care dept I have ever met in ANY company to date.
And trust me after 40+ years of living in Europe I have met some good ones.
Put on hold, passed from dept to dept, for over an hour. Spoke with a technical advisor who at least agreed with me that there is no coverage at my home. But, how ironic cut off again as he passed me back to a different call taker. Back and forth we go again for another 30 minutes. They wanted faxed proof I live where I do, and then it all starts again. Finally on to Miss Personality who informs me that the engineer states there is limited coverage and the cancellation fee can not be waived. I assume this coverage is available if I climb up three stories with an aluminium dish on my head holding a 15ft antenna. Anyhow, of course they have a firm hold around your testicles and give it the final squeeze by oh my cutting you off. So funny I nearly wet myself laughing.

My advice to anyone in the same position… let’s start recording these help lines and releasing them on the web. This message is recorded for training purposes seems to be a common theme, but sure haven’t seen much improvement. —Roger

  1. Don’t sign contracts with any company you don’t have to!

And there are other options out there. Lesson learned (by me at one point in time too – never again!)

  2. where do you live that you’re getting such shitty coverage from what sounds like a popular carrier?

And what makes you think you’ll achieve tower-related satisfaction on the phone with a support rep. Do you think they spend their off-hours working on these towers?

I used to do technical support over the phone back in my school and post collegiate days. The number of morons who have trouble figuring out where our responsibility ends and the engineers’ begins was staggering.

Call center employees are NOT ALLOWED to cut off a caller on purpose unless that caller has become abusive. So either it was an accidental disconnect (happens frequently with the equipment they use in those places) or you had become an abusive prick who was likely screaming at a distraught 18 year old.

Fuck you. move somewhere, get a different carrier, whatever. You’re expecting your carrier to meet your needs no matter what choices you make, then scream at their first tier staff when you don’t get exactly what you want.

When you open a cell phone account, things like coverage in your area are questions that are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK.

Don’t get pissed at these kids because you refused to do your research before signing, or likely even reading, your contract you stupid dingus.

  3. I’m going to say to you what likely every support rep you deal with WANTS to say to you.

go fuck your mother asshole. You made a bunch of shitty, ill informed choices and now your stupidity is causing you to be nasty to the people who’s ability to manage and deflect the fallout from your choices is LIMITED by their job. Every time you get nasty with one of these employees because of a choice YOU MADE, i want you to come back here and read this. Because while their mouths are saying “I understand your frustration sir” their minds are saying what i just said, pretty much verbatim. And they talk about you after the call is disconnected with anyone who will listen.

I had to get that out of my system. If you were polite to them, then fine. Great! But understand that they can’t control what the engineers do, they can’t control how the plans are structured and they can’t control how the contracts are drafted so it’s moronic to assume the CALL CENTER is the one making the rules.

    Don’t be so dumb!

  4. Another satisfied Rogers customer!!! I make them call me every month to tell me I’m 1 day late on my bill. I makes me feel important to know that my 80 dollars is the make or break point for a multibillion dollar corporation!!!

  5. One would think that before signing a contract for cel phone service, one would ensure there is coverage for the area they live in.

  6. Don’t blame the people answering the calls for the processes they have to follow. Go higher in the company to complain. Those people are only following the process they are told to follow.

  7. I don’t understand why people still go with this company.. I’ve only heard terrible things about them. I’m with the company with all the animals which usually has a little more expensive plans but their customer service is absolutely amazing!! I’ve never had an issue with them.

  8. Actually, IK, this company is notorious for having shitty cell service in Atlantic Canada. Especially in more rural areas. When I had their service in the valley I wouldn’t get ANY service inside buildings or between wolfville and past Avon Port. And more recently, a few friends home from Toronto for xmas noticed how shitty their service was down here.

Plus their customer service DOES suck. Ass. A lot of ass.

I chose Bell because while I do like Telus and found their customer service great (I had a pay and talk with them), I got a discount when I bundled my plan, and I know roughly what to expect from Bell and their customer service is decent, I guess. Except for the fact that it takes over 5 days for them to credit my account when I go into a store and pay my bill and the fact that they’ve called me three times SINCE I’ve paid my bill saying I owe them the $$$. That was kinda shitty.

  9. I’ve had the misfortune of being a Rogers customer during a period of time when I moved from the burbs to a more rural area of the province. Reception in many rural areas is poor to non-existent. Luckily the plan was about to expire and we switched carriers. Lesson learned OB, but hopefully you can speak to someone and get out of your plan.

  10. rogers used to be the only company that could keep a signal in a moving elevator…
so long as you lived in the city.
they basically took a nice, long, steaming, wet shit on anyone else in rural-ville.

either way, I too have severed ties with he who is known as Roger.
Like Emera, they renamed the skydome and I haven’t forgiven them yet for it.
