Sometimes they answer the phone. Sometimes they send a car. The poor drivers are out there waiting for fares. The customers are left without reliable transportation.

Is this some kind of city by-law? Why is there no competition anymore? There used to be several cab companies and the car was often at the door before you could get your shoes on!

There are dozens of cab companies in Halifax and they are all pretty responsive. Why does Dartmouth have only one? And why don’t they answer the damn phone and send a car?

Is Dartmouth City Hall responsible for this? This is a serious issue. You cannot rely on a cab for transportation anymore in Dartmouth. It’s a crapshoot.—Need a ride

  1. Get off your ass, walk to the bus stop, and wait, a bus will be there shortly. Or if that doesn’t suit you, buy a car and you will have your own mode of reliable transportation.

  2. if you get a cab more than once a day or 10 times a week, invest in a little putt, putt bike. they pay for themselves in about a year.

  3. You should start your own cab company! Probably illegal, but hey if there’s a market for it, do it.

  4. I’ve never had a problem getting a cab in Dartmouth. Hell, even on a Saturday in the DC, I haven’t waited more than 10 minutes for a cab.

  5. They are too busy picking up stranded souls in Halifax since cabbies over there refuse to go to DTown!!!

  6. cole harbour for one is a long wait since they’re “county cabs” and there aren’t that many of them.

oh, and some of us can’t afford a car ‘stephen harper is the devil’ or don’t drive at all. Buses run only once an hour on the weekends in a lot of places and when you have a shit load of groceries that’s not an option! Wake up to reality street.

  7. Does anyone use that CarShare thing? I assume it would be much better than relying on taxis, and much cheaper than getting your own car. I was looking into it before, you can purchase yearly memberships that aren’t much at all, compared to taxis.

  8. yes, but then you have to share….
I can just imagine what it would smell like in there when the previous Rtard rips a good one and seals it in…. letting it grow and ferment until fully ripe when you open the door….
