I worked there for 5 years never refused a shift, kept flexible with my schedule worked from the time I walked through the door until I left, I recently had an agreement to sell jewelry for 10% of the retail which equals 20-25% 0f my profit recently she sent me this “If you wish to continue using my display case, I am asking for rent of 100.00 a month and continued 10%.” Needless to say I refused based on my sales $250-300 a month this would leave her with $125 a month and after my cost me $50 a month, I left a note saying Sunday was the only day I could sell my jewelry (which I have a sizable investment) so I would be unable to work Sundays as a result, Captain Caveman called me into the store two days later and handed me a letter stating “On Oct. 16, you had indicated to me in writing that you will no longer work your regularly scheduled shifts. I accept this as your resignation. Enclosed is your last pay check which encompasses all hours worked in the last pay period and any shifts you were scheduled for this week.” She refused to speak about it demanded her key and stated you do not tell me how to run my business and slammed the door. Now that is a BITCH!
I didn’t receive 2 weeks pay and as it stands I am ineligible to collect E.I. —5 Rings

  1. Wow… a 40% markup on jewelry.
    kinda makes me think….

anyways, it’s her case and if she wants to be a twunting tyrant, I suppose she can.
firing you though with only a week is against the law I do believe… since you’ve been there so long.
are you full time? under any contract (which you should now go through with a fine toothed comb)?

  2. Wasn’t Captain Caveman a cartoon back in the 70’s? I agree Koda, I read 3 times still didn’t sink in.

  3. QUOTE “Wow… a 40% markup on jewelry.

For a small business to buy and sell there has to be about 100% to make it feasible I am trying to keep prices affordable most of my rings sell for less than $40. I was only part time and a 10 year friend of the employer, I agree if I don’t fill her needs as an employee she has the right to let me go …I just want to be treated fairly and believe if she doesn’t she should face the repercussions … I am not done yet stay tuned

Sorry if it is confusing, part of the confusion might be the fact that there are 2 sections that are direct quotes from the employer, if the quotation marks are ignored it would be confusing, also it wasn’t printed exactly how I submitted it

  4. Thanks for the advice I will sell my shit it is quality shit lol I have no doubt in that I my error is simply put is associating with an unscrupulous person

One more thing about this quote by trip Z

She buys her product for .50 to 1.50 and sells it between 5.99 and 11.99

  5. I didn’t get an extra week, I didn’t even get 2 weeks??? and honestly I moved on but there will be more repercussions she has a responsibility to do things correctly

  6. Just for the record she was found to have broken three laws in the process of my dismissal. I won the labour standards judgement unfortunately labour standards claimed that E.I. was responsible for the legal issues but when I approached E.I. they claimed Labour Standards should have dealt with it (passing the buck until it is too late) since it didn’t affect E.I. negatively they wouldn’t prosecute. P.s. it was Candace Redden @ C.D. Heaven where all good music goes (as well the business profits with no value to the artists)
