The ex roommate is a great artist and a good person, but she had to kick me out cause i lost my job and didnt have any money. She wouldnt even look me in the eye, i had rent but my friend didnt pay me for a job i did, so it wasnt even my fault. Turns out the same situation is happening to me now. Sorry Cafe, your obligation is to pay the rent. You said you had it but a friend stiffed you. Your friend stiffing you is your fault…he is your friend. So you stiffed her. What happened to the rent money that you had for her? Kept it for yourself?

You mean you would have had the rent if your friend had paid you. So your issue is with him not the ex-roommate.
Rule number 1: The rent comes before all else. In other words put your damn money away and don’t use it until AFTER the rent is paid.
If you had the rent you should have paid her. You no doubt caused here undue financial hardship because you didn’t live up to your end of the deal.
It is RENT. Who the fuck cannot come up with RENT? This is the FIRST payment one should make on the FIRST of the month. Even if you have to collect recyclables along the highway you need to pay RENT.
