WTF is with bylaw workers? Writing tickets to old people who can barely walk, expecting them to shovel the sidewalk. Last time I checked sidewalks were city property, I’d like to see all the bylaw officers shoveling seniors’ sidewalks. Fuck you HRM, fuck you hard. —Bylaws be Bylaws

House ownership comes with responsibilities OP.
Renters are on the hook too a lot of the time.
Of course, when you sign the lease you agree to what the lease says. If you don’t like the responsibility, don’t sign the lease.
Sidewalks need to be cleared so that other people can get around.. like you know, other seniors or people in wheelchairs and such. It’s part of owning a home. If a senior cannot keep up with the responsibilities of owning a house, then they shouldn’t own one or perhaps hire someone or get a loving son or daughter to clear the sidewalk for them 🙂
Reponsibilities don’t dissappear with age, sidewalks need to be cleared no matter how old the homeowner is.

you know something, when i pay taxes for shit like snow removal, i expect it to be removed. when i lived in yarmouth, there was a machine that plowed the sidewalks, and where i live in fairview, the same thing. maybe i live in a better part of the city than you o.p., but to each their own. yes, i have lived where you had to clear the walk in front of your place, ut as i say, taxes should take care of that shit. maybe it’s time to put this to the right people, instead of bitching here? and by the way, we have had fuck all snow this trip, and i for one, am glad as fuck of it.

there’s very few places I would consider that ‘better than’.
yeah zzz, but you gotta admit, at least our sidewalks are cleared. and as to better than, at least we don’t have most of the scum living here, they just import themselves from other parts and hang out here. but i don’t worry about them, i have a rambo complex.
I tend to agree with Mel, as a homeowner in HRM you’re responsible for the sidewalk in front. Hire somebody, give them $25.00, there aren’t that many snowstorms these days.
Move to Dartmouth OB – the city still plows our sidewalks. That’s what we get for being in the black before amalgamation, unlike Halifax…
