This bitch is for the sleazebag slumlord who recently evicted us: Your day is coming. I am not through with you yet, you miserable piece of shit! I am going to shut you down if it’s the last thing I do! You know who you are, and I’m putting the word out not to rent from you. You can keep your bugs, vermin, mold because when I’m done with you, you’ll be wallowing in it!!!

Just out of curiosity, exactly how do you propose to “put the word out”? Signs on telephone poles? Any other media will probably require you to retain a lawyer.
On another note, people don’t get evicted on a whim, even by slumlords. And believe it or not, landlords need the cooperation of tenants to keep bugs, rodents and mold under control. I’ve seen apartments that were afflicted by all three, and it sure wasn’t the fault of the landlord. What did you get evicted for, anyway?
I bet tenant enemy #1’s last name starts with a “G” and rhymes with “notion”. Slumlord fucks…
I’m with Realist – what’s the other side of this tale of woe and spitting thumb tacks? Why would a fucking slumlord throw you out??
you probably didn’t pay rent huh?
I’m with RID also.
Putting “the word out” is not going to do anything. And any statements that are written or on some type of medium can subject the OP to libel.
But you probably wouldn’t have this problem if you paid your rent or didn’t let your apartment turn into a bigger pile of shit.
The OP is entitled to say what they want about the landlord. They can even write things without fear of reprisal as long as what they’re saying is true. I hope the OP takes out an ad in this week’s paper
Pfft, ads cost money. And it could be slander and libel.
Sure the Charter assures rights, but once its in a specific medium/context, the rules can change.
And of course there’s no real reprisal, kay, they’re already evicted 😀
Dontcha love the way Canada welcomes immigrants who become landlords who soak every cent from ppl and don’t bother to keep their buildings clean. I told one bloodsucking parasite what he could do with his apartment when he insisted that I had to be interviewed when I applied for an apartment.
If it’s true it ain’t slander. It ain’t liable. Freedom of speech reigns when it comes to “gettin’ the word out”.
I’ve seen things from the side of the landlord when I was looking after my mother’s property years ago. Believe me, there are as many sleazebag tenants as there are landlords. Like the ones who promise no animals or smoking, then leave the place looking like a puppy farm kennel with decorative cig burns all over the carpet. Lying cunts.
ain’t ain’t a word.
Uh, well maybe the tenants are doing that bcz they are tired of being stiffed by greedy
lazy landlords who soak every cent they can from ppl.
It’s only libel if it isn’t true.
As long as there are no personal attacks and it’s strictly facts, there’s no libel involved, NGF.
There are sleazy people on both side of the coin here. Luckily I’ve got a great rental company after renting from a small time landlord who also owns a restaurant. I used to live down the hall in this building and the people beside me got evicted for various reasons. Anyway they had to replace all the doors, parts of the floors, mouldings, etc…and this is a fairly new building (4-5 years old)…and the apartment I moved into was rode pretty hard by the previous tenants.
But what the OP would be doing is personal. And judging from the OPs choice of words and writing style, the “attack” would be personal. Any attack is personal.
Then again, I’m not a lawyer like kay.
There are bad landlords and bad tenants and I’ve seen both. Maybe the reason some landlords can’t do repairs is that tenants aren’t paying their rents. I’ve seen rent arrears of thousands of dollars. That can make a lot of repairs. Then again if tenants didn’t wreck places, then there wouldn’t be the need of so many repairs. And yes there are greedy landlords that don’t give a shit but they’re usually idiots to begin with. The big players for the most part do improve the properties they acquire.
I don’t know, there’s an attack and then there’s an observation. You can make someone look like a shitty landlord very easily without actually saying “you’re a shitty landlord.”
TTFN do you think you could stop shilly-shallying and just spit out your concerns, no need to be diplomatic.
I admire your frankness.
A point for the poster; if you’ve been evicted from/by a slumlord what type of accomodation is next down the food chain? Please don’t join those other celebrities in boxes sleeping in the tunnel by the Mission To Seafarers.
Don’t you know, Fat? Ignorance of the law is not a good enough excuse to break it. It pays to be knowledgeable. You should try it sometime.
that’s alright, kay. i figure your ignorance of any and everything excuses you in anything you say. no matter how dumb it sounds.
Truth hurts… whatever
truth hurts? i feel so good though.
Can anyone confirm whether or not the slumlord with the big blue signs and awnings is actually trying to bail on it’s NS properties? I know of several other landlords that have been approached by this company as they try and sell off properties, especially their HRM ones.
They came into town with all kinds of hype about fixing up the places and making their rental units the best around but all they’ve done is a bit of paint on the exteriors and let the properties run into the ground while funnelling all the money back to Ontario. They can’t get out of town quick enough for this former tenant.
The whole issue is six of one, half dozen of the other. The only way to give an honest opinion about this situation is to know what happened from both sides.
Perhaps OP could channel that rage into something beneficial – like stuffing skunk colons with plastic beads and selling them to the tourists on the waterfront so they can take a whiff of the Halifax Hum home.
voice_of_reason: They’re definitely dumping at least some of their properties in HRM – I was told that Halifax is a secondary market for them and they’re selling properties to complete an acquisition in Montreal. The properties they’re selling are in _very_ questionable areas – not of interest to this small-time-landlord.
Yeah, that’s what they do voice, from what I’ve heard. My current landlord was actually approached by them to buy up her properties. It’s a despicable practice, given all they do is freshen up the exteriors and raise property values and the rents within the building, then sell it off to the highest bidder, who in turn does nothing with the property.
i see both sides but i do know that some “slumlords” can become that way because of non rental paying bastards, who just want to take advantage of people.
i understand that times get hard and money can come up short for rent, live and let live, but if you’re on welfare u get moneyfor rent suck it up……..
if you have mold and other pests you might want to try cleaning, especially if you’re in a basement apartment.try mentioning to landlord about pest/mold and they could get some pest control all up in there.
maybe you’ll learn some lessons for the new place.
