Yes it does say push to cross they have them on just about every major crosswalk in HRM BUT pushing it ten thousand times or slamming it repeatedly does not hurry up the lights. They are on a timer idiot, they don’t have a sensor that says it’s cold or rainy and they don’t care if you’re late. On the positive side you did provide entertainment for everyone who watched you assault the button

its the beeping noise when you push the button that makes it fun to push so many times!!! I know it wont make it change any faster, but I enjoy the beeps of the buttons!

I love that sound too! It is mainly a psychological thing I think. Plus, when you’re just standing there waiting for the lights to change, what else do you have to do?
I have found that if an electronic device seems not to be working, it DOES sometimes help to pound, kick, punch or otherwise strike it until it does.
I have used this technique successfully on vending machines, headlights, disk drives, televisions, payphones etc etc hundreds of times over the years. It jiggles lose wires together making a contact which then sticks together, frees moving parts and helps them overcome “starting friction” and so on.
And many times, I suppose I have provided “amusement” to bystanders, but, hey, it’s my dime, innit?

maybe if you take your abuse out on the occasional button ..it will prevent u from taking it out on a person…..its just a damn button!!
I love the sound of it though 🙁 Sometimes my hubby will try to play a tune with it if I’m in a bad mood in an attempt to cheer me up.
Whatever, I like the noise it makes.
